Though it might be true that I have had a weak spot for a certain Star Trek character, this isn't about starships, even. I promise.

While in our calender September is the 9th month of the year, it was the 7th for the Romans, as you can still see in the name. Therefore, I'll give you a list of nine reading prompts and your goal will be to finish seven of them. If you manage all nine, even more excellent!

Duration: September 1-30, 2021

Registration:
Everyone can join in at any given time of the duration of the challenge, just by saying so in this topic. Registration will be open from later in August on.

Rules:
1) Read books to cover at least 7 of the nine reading prompts below.
2) Any book can count as long as it's finished in September.
3) Books with over 400 pages can tick off two prompts at once, books up to 400 pages can only tick off one.
4) Make a post for each book you finish for the challenge in this topic, stating which prompt(s) you can cover with it.
5) Have fun!

Hello everyone,

registration for September's Challenge is open now.

This is a solo-challenge, so you can join in at any time before or during its run. :-)

I'll try to join! I have school starting up though so I can't guarantee a good run XD

I wanted to ask what a crossfoot is? (from the first prompt)

Auntie Terror (auntie_terror) | 398 comments Mod
@Noor: No need to guarantee anything, this is just for fun ;-)

Crossfoot is this:
Say the number of pages was 354. So you add 3+5+4 = 12. This is the crossfoot. (I had to look up the English term, so I might have chosen one which isn't common in usage by accident.)

message 8: by Niharika✩ (new)

Niharika✩ (doesitreallymatterpeople) | 223 comments Well then any book above 34 pages works for that prompt, right?

message 9: by Auntie Terror, in charge of challenges (new)

Auntie Terror (auntie_terror) | 398 comments Mod
No, not really. The crossfoot should be either 7 or 9. So an 18 page book would work, same as one of 601 pages, but one of 35 or 497 would not. The book in my example was merely an example for what a crossfoot is, but wouldn't be able to check off the first prompt.

Thanks for the explanation!

Before I forget again:

Please make a post with the nine prompts once the challenge starts and update that post by crossing out or checking off the prompts in there, adding the book you finished for each.
You can post each book and what it checked off separately in a new post, too, but only if you like.

The challenge has now officially begun!

Please remember to make yourselves a post with the nine prompts to update with your books.

And don't forget: you can still join in at any point during September as this is a single reader challenge.

Congratulations to everyone of you! Most of you even managed all 9 reading prompts. I'm very impressed.

Note to self: Don't do challenges without asking people to "shout out" their updates in the topic. (Really, I forgot to check too often for not seeing any new posts... *facepalm*)
