Hi everyone!

Time to nominate for July is Treasure.

~Please remember to state a connection to the theme when you nominate.

~Books we have read less than three years ago are not eligble. To see which books are not eligble, see this google sheet:

~ Each person can nominate 1 book.

~ Book must be available both as a physical copy and as an ebook.

~ Authors: Please do not nominate your own book.

~ Please do not nominate books that are part of a series, unless it is the first book.

~ You can second someone else's nomination, but that will count as your nomination.


This thread will be closed by May 26th, and we will choose ten books for the poll. If there are more than ten books nominated, we will choose "seconded" books first. If there is still a tie to get into the top ten, we'll go back to the Goodreads average rating to see which is highest.

I nominate the Costa prize winner, The Mermaid of Black Conch by Monique Roffey because whenever I picture a mermaid I always see them swimming underwater next to a chest of sunken treasure. Must be an image from my childhood!

I'd like to nominate a classic, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain, as Tom and Huck are involved in a search for treasure.

I'm all for Treasure Island. But since it's been fourthed already I will nominate The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins. The titular stone is a treasure that has been stolen from an Indian shrine and it must be recovered.

I would recommend Autobiography of a Yogi.
It's a treasure of life skills, knowledge of yogic life and soul, and about Yoga itself, which is indeed a treasure :) I feel it's such an important book esp in today's turbulent times.

I'd like to nominate Holes by Louis Sachar. The inmates of juvenile corrections facility Camp Green Lake are required to dig a large hole each day, supposedly to build character, but the camp's owner secretly hopes to find an outlaw's hidden treasure.

I know this is a long one, but I promise it reads fast and main character benefits from an amazing treasure.

I would like to nominate The Templar Legacy. The Knights Templar were known for keeping their treasures well-hidden and it was searched for by many over the years.
