This is a Buddy Read for Cursor's Fury by Jim Butcher starting April 25, 2021.
Cursor's Fury (Codex Alera, #3) by Jim Butcher

Sorry this is late going up. Hope you still need it!

Shaitarn | 2184 comments I'm sorry I haven't been around. I've been really depressed lately and hardly reading at all - I think this latest lock down has got to me. I'm starting to come out of it now and still plan to read this one.

I'm sorry to hear that. Glad you're starting to come out of it a bit. :) I've been dealing with postpartum depression over the last few months. I realized there was a problem I needed to address when I stopped reading there for a while (the longest I've gone in as long as i can remember without picking up a book). One day at a time, and this too shall pass. I'm glad you're here again.

Sorry to hear that Shaitarn. Yeah lockdowns can be rough. Glad things are at least starting to get better.

I was serious about only having read the prologue though so if you want to delay this buddy read for a bit I have plenty of other books to keep me busy. I can't read it in June as I have other reading plans but happy to delay it till July or August if that works better for you? Completely up to you...

Thank you <3 Taking care of myself and focusing on the joyful things, so it's getting better. :) Plus I've had my second COVID shot so I'm going to get to see some people I haven't seen in a year very soon!! :D

message 9: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2764 comments That is good news. I'm getting my second dose on the 14th and have plans to meet up with friends I haven't seem since September in a pub garden on Saturday (weather permitting 😬)

Shaitarn | 2184 comments Thanks for your patience. Do you mind if we push the start of the book back to Monday? I should be able to finish my current book over the weekend.

Sure no problem. I'll focus on Only Human and Windwitch over the weekend. I'm a bit slumpy at the moment so I'm a bit further behind than I would prefer.

Hailee | 2764 comments Hi Shaitarn, I don't know what buddy reads you have planned in the coming months but would it be really inconvenient to push this buddy read back until the beginning of July?

I'm in such a slump at the moment I really just want to get my currently reading books done before my month of reading middlegrade or just not reading at all if I don't feel like it starts in June. And since I'm only 10 pages into Cursor's Fury this seems like a good option to delay until after June.

message 14: by Shaitarn (new)

Shaitarn | 2184 comments My sympathies with your reading slump - I know how it feels when picking up a book seems like a chore rather than a pleasure.

No, there's absolutely no problem with pushing this one back. Would you like us to set an absolute date or leave it as a 'let me know when you want to get back into this'? Whatever you prefer is fine with me.

Hailee | 2764 comments Thanks Shaitarn, thats a weight off my mind. I must admit I really need a solid month of just mood reading/re-reading old favourites to kickstart my reading mojo again. Once I've finished the two books on my currently reading shelf thats what I'm going to do.

I think for Cursor's Fury we can just set a loose date of sometime in July for now. Maybe picking a firmer date at the beginning of July?

message 16: by Shaitarn (new)

Shaitarn | 2184 comments That's fine. I have no reads planned for July, so any time is good.

I know what you mean about re-reads. I've been thinking about getting Kay's Sarantium duology back off the shelves because I know I'm going to enjoy them.

message 17: by Hailee (last edited May 11, 2021 09:08AM) (new)

Hailee | 2764 comments Great! And yeah sometimes there is nothing better than rereading a favourite. I say treat yourself and reread them if that's what you're craving. I haven't read any Kay books yet but he is definitely an author I want to try.

I'm planning on rereading Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and the Copper Cat Trilogy by Jen Williams. I have her newer series on my shelf (Winnowing Flame) but each time I look at it all I get is a craving to re-read her first trilogy because I loved the characters so much so I'm going to treat myself and just do it.
