Happy reading, friend!
And I come back on the 30th since no one was chosen to pick for me, right?

I checked (cuz stuff like this pokes at my curiosity and won't let go until the mystery is solved), and it looks like she accidentally has two people picking for Carrie. But I can pick for you, if you want. ^_^

Oooooh, whoops. All good. I was just unsure what the S.O.P. was. If you'd like to pick for me, I'd love that. 😊

No clue what the official protocol is in the situation (or even if there is any), but I've seen people offer before, so... *shrugs*
For your two regular picks, I went with

Book - Burn for Me
Author - Ilona Andrews
Date - 5/16/21
Rating - 5 Stars
Review - I think these two could write stereo instruction in another language and I would still buy it and try to learn that language because..well...they can do no wrong. I'm kinda glad I came to the Ilona Andrews world kinda late because all the books are out. I may have had a nervous breakdown if I started reading them when they first came out and I would have to wait for the next one. Awesome writing, world building, and character development in this series. Plus they make me laugh. Which is a bonus considering what I've been reading lately.

Completion Post Book #1
Book-The Lost Apothecary
Author-Sarah Penner
Date-5/16/21
Rating 5 Stars
Review- This was a debut novel for Sarah Penner. I have definitely added her to my favorite author list. It is modern-day set in London. Caroline Parcewell has arrived for a vacation which was suppose to be a celebration for her 10th wedding anniversary. However, several days before leaving she discovers that her husband has had an affair. She decided to go alone. Her time is spent in dissecting her life so far and the decisions that she has made. Throw into this recipe her discovery of an apothecary bottle dating from the 18th century and thus begins an exploration of sources to discover its owner. The book slips from the present-day to the 18th century and introduces the characters from the apothecary.
A brilliantly written novel with wonderful characters that take the reader on an extraordinary journey.
Completion Post Book # 2
Book-The Empty Throne
Author-Bernard Cornwell
Date-5/26/21
Rating-5 Stars
This is the next in the series staring Uhtred of Bebbanberg. I love the historical accuracy in Bernard Cornwell's novels. In this novel Uhtred is recovernig from a wound recieved in the recent struggle with a Viking invader. While looking for the sword that might help him, he fights to secure the kingdom of Mercia for Athelflaed, the sister of King Edward of Wessex. Uthred, moreover, wants to insure the safety of Edward's son Athelstan form the clutches of those who wish to see him dead. As an interesting side note, I am also reading a biography of Aethelstan at this time and although there is no Uhtred of Bebbanberg present, Cornwell is historically on the dot!

Brigia picked for me:

Looking for a Cowboy by Donna Grant - 5/6/21 ♥♥♥♥
The Military Wife by Laura Trentham - 5/26/21 ♥♥♥♥

I reread Down Among the Sticks and Bones and read Come Tumbling Down. I didn't love CTD like I do DAtSaB, but I still enjoyed it. Also, something I didn't notice the first time I read it are the wonderful, dreamy illustrations.
I also read City of Brass which was not my favorite but I still liked it.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to Ink and Bone this month.

Yay, glad to hear it!

I finished
, which was very good and have a start on my second book
. Not as thrilled with this second book in that series but I'll finish it...
