I don't remember much of the story but a few plot points I do remember are:
> Main character (unsure if M or F) is sent away after her dad is abducted
> MC learns that their family is involved in magic
> MC has to conquer different creatures in different AUs to harness their abilities, one of which is a creature that splits into hundreds of chick-like animals
> MC is taught how to anchor themselves to reality by visualizing "a thread" and in order to harness the creature's powers they have to tug on this mental string.

Is the MC a teenager or a younger child?
