Jvh | 6 comments I read the book around year 2005.
I think it's an english or american book.
I might have got it from a french public library (mediatheque).
This is a more than one book story.
I remember the man exploring tunnels being old (he says he did it before when he was young, and really unhappy to have to do it again).
I don't remember, but maybe the first book is about his younger self story.
He is socially important in some way. Maybe a chief or something ? He has a wife.
The dragon appears outside in one of the books, and i think the sun burns skins and turns people into monsters or crazy ?
In the book where the old man explore tunnels, i remember something about his skin being sick, or hurting. Tunnels are darks, he use a torch, and maybe a sword.
I have no memory of why he has to explore the tunnels, but he has to do.

Thanks

Jvh | 6 comments I don't think so.
In my memory, the ennemi and monsters are under the surface.
The hero, an humanoid, maybe human, goes underground for some reason.
That's the opposite in your reference.

Jvh | 6 comments Memories are childisch, so i may confuse part of the plot, or maybe mixed some books together.
But i believe that when i find the title and plot, i will be able to remember the book.

Right now, i found that serie : "Razorland Series" but i don't think that's it.

I remember the book to be dark, maybe not fitted for a child.

I think the world was not futuristic, more close to medival, but i can not tell for sure.

I might have read it between 10~13 years old, and the book might have been old enough to be translated in french, and to appear in a public place like a library.
Maybe i was not mature enough to understand everything.

The part of the plot spent outside, people are hiding in cave to protect from sky that burn skin.

What burns skin is either the sun, dragon, or both with the dragon taking place of the sun ?

Thanks

Jvh | 6 comments I FOUND IT !!!
That's "Les empeurs mages" by Jean-Luc Bizien.
I think i only read book 2-3 when i was a child.
To find it, i searched on my "back in the days" local library search engine, since i though i got it from there.
I almost gave up, and found it by playing with filters, and typing only one word each time.
