I haven't read this book before, I've only read its description a while back. But I remember loving the idea behind its story so much and now I just need to find it. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a boy who's gonna turn 16 soon. In the world where he lives he is supposed to claim some magical ability or get involved with some magic people, I'm not entirely sure. Problem is he doesn't have a magical ability and he gets help from someone to trick everyone.

I apologize for the vague details. I believe the book is a part of a series and it has some word related to magic in its title ("magi" or "spell" or "trickster" I'm not really sure). The cover is dark and it has a drawing of a guy in a suit. Hope that helps somehow.

Alright I found the book somehow. It's called "Spellslinger" by Sebastien de Castell. Turns out the cover wasn't even dark....
