My apologies for the vagueness of the details. From what I can recall the book is a part of a series created in the early 2000-2010. In one of the books the girl travels to Ireland and finds out about magic/fae creatures. She meets a guy. I honestly can only recall there being a scene on the beach and her thinking he may think she is overweight but he reassures her and says she "isn't skin and bones" if that is what she is asking. I wish I could remember more but I remember thinking the entire series was fairly well done.
