SOLVED. Sick boy sits in window sill and reads. [s]

I can't remember much but this book is about a young boy who is very ill, he always sits on his window sill and reads, he wears the same pajamas (blue) every day, he isn't allowed to leave the house but a young girl helps him run away, and he leaves without shoes, still in the pajamas. I think this ends up being all part of his imagination? (I'm really not so sure though)
Read this around 2013-2016
Feel like it was set in Germany/is a german book but i could be completely wrong.
