Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments Karin, I have finished my last assignment and have no other assignments. As stated in msg#318, please feel free to assign more prompts or not if you intend to keep the prompts for other team members, I’m okay with both. I will continue to read and record my page counts/audio hours.

message 304: by Karin (last edited Mar 31, 2021 02:59PM) (new)

Karin | 252 comments Avery--do you have something for a prompt you haven't read for yet? eg a book for 25 years old? as in would like to read when you are 25, read when you were or would recommend to your 25 yo self? OR a book with a party or celebration? Or making new friends?

I have given the last one of a prompt you have already read a book for to Trisha who hasn't yet read for that, nor has she read all 10 tasks she originally pledged :) BUT she has already read books for at least two of the ones I mentioned.

I will only be on a few more minutes, so can't give you a new assignment before tomorrow; in the meantime all pages you read count :)

Finished today:
The Bookish Life of Nina Hill
book with at least 25 chapters
book with 25 000+ ratings on GR
book about making new friends
book about bibliophile, bookworm etc. - ASSIGNED

Hi Karin, I finished this book today. You originally assigned me the book about bibliophile, bookworm etc prompt for it.
While reading, I discoverd a "scene with two people reading" in it, so I was wondering if you'd want to use it for this prompt instead? Of course it's entirely up to you, just wanted to let you know.

ETA: At the moment I'm good for assignments. I'm still reading my other book for an assigned prompt and would like to finish that first before taking on a new assignment, if that's ok.

Karin | 252 comments Here is how things stand right now. I won't take any more new tasks at this point even though it's not 10 yet unless there is something no one else can do (Trisha has done her pledged 10). I found a scene in my anniversary/celebration book with people reading together, so moved it to that so that someone else could read for that task. BUT once I finish my last two tasks by later Friday will give myself my 10th pledged task if there is still one or more open. I'll easily finish another book today since Moriarty is a fast read for me and I really enjoy most of the books of hers I have read.

COMPLETED - 32 tasks
ASSIGNED - 15 tasks

OPEN at this time:

1 task. 25th book on your want to read shelf - task/book

1 task left for - 3 books you wish to read at 25, you read at that age, and you'd recommend to your 25-year-old self.

1 task/book for read a book about making new friends

ETA -- FIXED!

message 313: by Karin (last edited Apr 01, 2021 08:22AM) (new)

Karin | 252 comments As you can all see above, there are only 3 open tasks at this time. This means I can only assign them to people who can fill one of those.

BUT every page you read and all of your audiobook time still helps. PLUS, once we are finished our tasks there may be something else for us to do, so stay tuned and happy reading :)!

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments Yayyy! We are all doing so good! Truly, all for one, one for all! 💗

Karin, I have books for all the three remaining tasks, but I will not claim those until you find no other contenders (including yourself) and ask me to do so. I’ll wait for a couple of days and if no one has claimed those by that time, I’ll request you for an assignment. But I’ll mostly stay off your radar for a little while. 😌

I feel we’ll have a few contenders for the bottom two tasks for sure.

Yes, and I also have contenders as well--it's great to have choices here. I'll assign you and I each one more if no one has something for these three by Friday late afternoon Eastern Time (Boston, New York) etc. since I will have both of my last two finished by then and that gives more than 24 hours for others to see if they have something.

Shadow and Bone - Read 4 books about making new friends ✔ Completed
Suddenly You - Read 4 books that feature a bibliophile, bookworm, librarian, or bookshop - ✔ Completed
Weather - Read 3 books: one you'd recommend to your 25-year-old self - currently reading

My previous update (Shadow and Bone) wasn't put in the spreadsheet so I'm posting it here again. I also finished Suddenly You, which had one very short scene of two people reading together, but it's there! So maybe it should be switched to fulfil that prompt instead. I should be finishing Weather tomorrow and after that I'm fine with just reading to count toward page/listening hours as well.

Such a shame you can't give us a yodeling demonstration here on GR, Karin. I think a celebratory yodel would be just the thing to mark the completion of all 50 prompts! ;-)

Thanks, but I am not good at yodelling yet even if I could--my voice teacher has given me some warm up exercises, though. I don't sing country music, either...but if you really want some celebratory yodels, I can find you a couple of good ones.

FYI two of my dad's friends yodelled in two different styles at various parties, etc. My dad doesn't care for yodelling, but I guess I did, although I didn't realize it for a long time (didn't really hear it) and for sure would have never admitted to liking it when I was a teen.

Karin | 252 comments Hi, all,

Shari hasn't been able to get the book for her last assignment yet, but I was able to get an ebook through one of my library cards that is a quick read and will work so she doesn't have to buy a book. I'm off today, so will start reading at lunch and much of the afternoon. It will be a fast read since I have read this author before for Holiday book challenges (yes, a Christmas book, but I can do this).

Once I am done, I'll let mods know to see what extra things we can be assigned.

Happy Reading!

message 341: by Karin (last edited Apr 06, 2021 03:13PM) (new)

Karin | 252 comments We're finished! It turns out out still have some of my records and read Anne of Green Gables in 2012, so since Shari's library didn't get her her book, I read that one.

Stay tuned while I find out if there is more for us to do plus all of our pages we read do count.

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments BONUS PROMPTS

Congratulations team on finishing your primary 50 tasks! Here is a extra treat for you to test yourself a bit further:

*Read 3 books for any of the 1-book tasks (no repeating prompts)
*Read 3 books for any of the 2-book tasks (no repeating prompts)
*Read 3 books for any of the 3-book tasks (prompts may be repeated)

Good luck!

message 344: by Trisha (last edited Apr 06, 2021 07:16PM) (new)

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments I’ll go scan my reading list and pick up a short book for one of the 1-book tasks. Will post the prompt I’m reading to fulfil, so that no one else repeats it. :)

Edit:
I’m reading Twelve Years a Slave for the prompt:
Read a book with 20, 12, 2012 or 25 in the title.

I have an audiobook for this one, so I can easily manage reading it during the day. It is technically my last day of the readathon today, so I will not be able to read anything that counts after my 12 am (which is in 14 hours from now). If two of you can pick up 1 book each from any of the other 1-book tasks, we will be able to accomplish 1 bonus prompt. You can also count books that you read during the readathon for page count/audio hours after you were done with Karin’s assignments, as long as it fulfils a prompt.

PS: Bonus prompts are only for those who are interested. No pressure, ladies!

message 345: by Trisha (last edited Apr 06, 2021 08:41PM) (new)

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments Avery, since I'm reading for prompt 'read a book with 20,12, 2012 or 25 in the title', no one else can read a book for this same prompt. Basically, two readers cannot fulfil the same prompt. You can read for the other remaining 1-book prompts:

Solos (1-book prompts)
Read a book read by a teammate for this readathon
Read a book you read in 2012
Read a book with 20, 12, 2012 or 25 in the title.
Read a book which has been translated into 25+ languages.
Read a book with at least 25 chapters or sections.
Read a book written when the author was under 25 years old.
Read a book with the word ‘silver’ in the title or with a silver cover.
Read a book published in 1996

message 347: by Trisha (last edited Apr 07, 2021 03:44AM) (new)

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments I’m done with Twelve Years a Slave.

Karin, I am clubbing both Alyana and my updates down below for you:

Bonus prompts
Read 3 books for any of the 1-book tasks (no repeating prompts)

Read a book read by a teammate for this readathon.
—-> The Push read by Alyana

Read a book with at least 25 chapters or sections.
—-> The Girls I've Been read by Alyana

Read a book with 20, 12, 2012 or 25 in the title.
—-> Twelve Years a Slave read by Trisha

Bonus prompt 1 completed

I’m now off to find a short book for bonus prompt#3 since it is a safer prompt to work on - it allows repetition of prompts i.e. one or more readers can complete the same prompt. This will be my last contribution before the clock ticks 12 in my zone. :D

Sorry about my over-enthusiasm!

message 348: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1201 comments I have books read that will match these prompts:

2 books with 25,000+ ratings each on Goodreads.
---> Dad Is Fat

3 books you'd recommend to your 25-year-old self.
---> Beach Read

message 349: by Trisha (new)

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments Alyana, we don’t need to fulfil the 25k ratings prompt, now that we have 3 books already. Can you find another prompt for that book? Or maybe find another prompt for either The Push or The Girls I’ve Been. If you push one of these books to bonus prompt#3, that’ll be the best for us.

I’m almost done with Elevation (30 pages more). This will meet the below 2 prompts:

Read 3 books by an author who has written for 25 or more years.
Read 3 books by an author who has written 25 or more books.

So with this, we are at 2/3 for bonus prompt#3. Need 1 more to complete this prompt. Repetition of prompts for bonus prompt#3 is allowed.

The Foxe & the Hound by R.S. Grey can be used for this prompt.

Can I use the same book that has been assigned to me to a different prompt?
