Yes, if your reading list has books that can fit more than one category, please let us know :)

I will be reading 10 books (that's my goal) but have not added 10 x's. Also, I can move some if someone else reads first. I can easily remove some if it makes it simpler.

And, yes, some of these prompts need 2, 3 or 4 of us to read books.

@Trisha--I am a huge planner and would love to have a detailed plan for all of us as well, but of course not everyone is like us that way :).

@all of us --Real Life can put a damper in reading plans, so feel free to speak up here if you can if you can't finish a book or something has come up. Everyone contributes no matter how fast or slow they are at reading or how busy their lives are right now, etc :)

Yes, I'll do that on Monday--I can send a welcome to our team PM worded in a way to be a reminder.

Karin | 252 comments Also, I need to know the pages you read or the hours you listened for each book you read. Team Captains have to report the following for each time we meet one requirement, and for the ones involving two or more people, we haven't met it until all 2, 3 or 4 books have been read for that category :). All I need from you if you are able to give this, is the pages/hours; I will get the date from when you post.

The more promptly we can post, the faster we can work to getting the the place where we can earn wild cards :)!

Date:
Pages read:
Hours listened:
Prompts filled:*
Wild Cards earned:

Karin | 252 comments How about this for team Theme Music, from the TV show The Librarians about librarians who guard a magic library. Of course, you can also listen to The Guardians of the Galaxy Music music (and, yes, I knew that was probably the real inspiration for the team name :) )

Karin, have you looked at the nifty tracking page? We can do our own tracking and all you have to do is keep up with the data to post.

Sunny | 2311 comments Okay, I see things have changed since I was here yesterday. I've put in some books and marked where they'll fit.

I'm so planned oriented that I want everyone to have their assignments -- specifically so we know who's reading what and for what prompt exactly. So we don't end up reading things and then not needing them to count because it's already been done. :)

I don't know if I'll be able to check back in before Weds or not.

Alyana | 1201 comments "This is what I have right at the moment, but I'll let Alyana add those as she sees fit (or not), but I am going to order some books for places where we have no x's or not enough (at least some of them) and will update once they arrive at my library and I am able to pick them up.

I have all but one of the books in this list already and the other one is at the library--I'll be picking that up tomorrow.

I have quite a migraine today, so will come back with more titles tomorrow. I have a few reviews to write (probably won't get all 3 done today) and some other things to update in other groups, then will probably get off all devices for the rest of the day.

9. Read a book in a series with at least 12 books. (if need be I have the last two Lacey Luzzi books on my kindle--they are quick and fun)

13. Read a book either published in 2012 or included in the Best Books of 2012 listopia. Protection for Hire by Cany Tang (have here now)

15. Read a book with over 25,000 ratings on Goodreads The Sun Also Rises OR Olive Kitteridge (not sure if either of those applies to other categories at the moment and I own them, so it's okay if I don't need them).

18.Read a book with a title starting with “Y,” the 25th letter of the alphabet (ignore “a” and “the”). Yodelling book (I kid you not--for some quirky reason I like some yodelling even though none of my other family members do, but it was two of my dad's friends that yodelled, one in country songs and the other was Swiss).

AND/OR
7. Read a book starting with “L,” the 12th letter of the alphabet (ignore “a” and “the”). Lola and the Boy Next Door (not 1st in series, though)

22. Read a book with the word ‘silver’ in the title or with a silver cover. The Silver Pigs

25. Read a book published in 1996 (25 years ago). SIGN OF THE DOVE, 3rd book in dragon series and on hold"

Karin, I think you posted this message to the sign up thread instead of here?

And also, will it help if we create separate tabs for each member's planned books to read that would match the prompts? So as not to put everything in one tab? I will create mine as a sample, if it's not a good idea, I can take it down.

message 60: by Snezana (new)

Snezana | 168 comments I have added first two books I plan to read for the readathon to the spreadsheet.

And I think it would be useful to freeze columns A and B so that when we scroll to the right we can still see the prompts. Now that we have started entering books into it it's hard to see which prompts can be fulfilled by which book. I didn't want to do it myself without you all agreeing.

oshizu | 5762 comments Hi Karin!
I just read the comment you posted in the Readathon Intro/Sign-Up thread. The link's below:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Did you mean to post that in your team thread? I tried to message you about this, but your GR account is private. Sorry!

message 62: by Angie (new)

Angie | 86 comments Ok, so I had a look at what has already been entered in the spreadsheet and reshuffled my planned books a bit so as to match them to those prompts that haven't been filled yet.

Here's what I've come up with:

During the readathon I can read a max. of 3 books

The Bookish Life of Nina Hill
- book about making new friends
- book about a bibliophile, bookworm...

- book with at least 25 chapters
- over 25 000 ratings on GR

Twelve Red Herrings
- book with a 12 in the title
- book by an author who has written for 25+ years

Magpie Murders
- book read by a teammate (Trisha)
- book by an author who has written for 25+ years

[I marked the prompts we still need to fill bold, the prompts we already have enough books for in plain text.]

I'm happy to switch any of the above mentioned books for something else. I can find books for almost all prompts except these:

prompts I don't have any books for:
- read a book you read in 2012
- books starting with "Y"
- books shelved during the month you joined the group
- read the 12th and 25th books on your TBR
?? -book with a scene of 2+ people reading together?? (hard to know in advance...)

Hope this helps in anyway...!

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments @Karin, the information you need from the members is to be picked from the tracking page where all members are supposed to record their daily page counts and/or audio hours. Also, since I'm tracking all the teams' progress, I can confirm that you don't have to update it daily, once by the end of each week is enough, although you can update more frequently if you wish.

@Alyana, no, you have to post page count for physical/ebooks and audio hours for audio books. You don't have to post page counts for audio books.

@Angie, that's brilliant and exactly what we are supposed to do - reshuffle our reading so as to focus on ignored prompts. Can you add those books to the spreadsheet please? I've already added Magpie Murders from your behalf to showcase an example of how assignments can work.

I'm looking at the prompts with zero bidders and rearranging my reading plans. I've now removed The Push from my currently reading list since the two prompts (25 chapters & 25k+ ratings) it was filling are the ones with the highest bidding. I will instead read Wonder and fill prompt 2 books published in 2012. I don't have this book handy but will buy it on Kindle once the prompts are assigned.

@Everyone, please try filling in books that have lesser number of bidders, in other words, lesser number of possible fits.

I want to be active during everyone's active hours and stayed up till 2:30-3 am last night but still couldn't catch up with you all. :(

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments Assignments - For Karin & Angie's attention - if we decide to go for it.

Karin /Angie, once everyone has filled in their first few books, can you have a look and see if you’d like to assign specific prompts to the members? If you do so, once you've assigned the prompts, members can have a look and if we're good with our assignments, we can remove the other x's. This will provide us a view of the prompts that are still unassigned or partially assigned.

As an example, I've assigned Magpie Murders to myself and Angie for prompt 4 books featuring a bibliophile, bookworm, librarian, or bookshop and A book read by a teammate for this readathon, now we can remove all other x's (highlighted in red) that are there for these books. Please feel free to remove my assignments.

For reference, you can also have a look at team Textual Healing's spreadsheet.

Please feel free to let us all know if you need any help.

Editing to add:
This is just a suggestion, Super-Guardians Karin and Angie will make the final call as to how they want to go about with the prompts. :)

Sometimes I listen to the audiobook and read as well, so I'm thinking to both track the ebook pages and hours of the books I read. Also, I have an ebook copy of Wonder. I can just email it to you to save you a few bucks if you like :)

I'm still trying to organize my reads and I have come up to fill some of the prompts with lesser bidders. I'll update my list later in the morning.

I do the same, Alyana! So what we can do is put the exact number of pages we read and hours we listened to in their respective cells. All we need to take care of is that we don’t record the same content in both page count and audio hours, no duplication basically!

So a 300 pages book could be divided into 2 hours + 200 pages, but never 300 pages + 6 hours. I feel I’m explaining it in the stupidest possible way, so sorry, sometimes I just don’t get the right words. :(

Sorry Alyana, I missed responding to your offer of a copy of Wonder. I’d love that! Aren’t you the sweetest? 💗
I’ll DM you my email id. Thank you so much, dear!

message 68: by Angie (new)

Angie | 86 comments Updated the spreadsheet with my books. Had a closer look at where we stand as a team in filling the prompts, I think it’s not looking too bad. :-)
The good thing is, as far as I can make out, we don’t have any books that are redundant. Most books fit several prompts. For some we have plenty of entries, but all books also tick off one vital prompt we need, so that’s pretty good. Obviously there are still some no takers, but I hope those will be filled as we go along.

@Trisha Very good idea of assigning books/prompts. I tried to replicate your example with one of my books, but would like to wait for Karin’s opinion before making more changes.
PS: Don’t stay up too late, save your energy for the readathon! Assistant to the captain's orders ;-)

books starting with "Y" - I have a book for this

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments For prompts:

🔹Read 3 books shelved during the month you joined the group
I can read Never Let Me Go, I joined this group on Mar 13, 2019 and added this book to me TBR on that very day.

🔹Read the 12th and 25th books on your TBR
The Stranger is the 25th book on my TBR.

I don’t have both the books, but if these are assigned to me, I’ll beg, borrow, steal or buy them.

Btw, Alyana has been very kind and shared an e-copy of Wonder with me. Thank you, Alyana! :)

Snezana | 168 comments The prompts I can't do are:

-book read in 2012 - I made GR in 2013 so I don't remember what I read that year
- book with 20, 12, 2012 or 25 in the title - I don't have any with those numbers
-the 12th or 25th book on your TBR list - those for me are Amerika and The Silmarillion and I honestly have zero desire to read them right now. 😅

I have quite a lot books shelved the month I joined the group and I planed on reading One Dark Throne for that or book in a series of four (whichever is needed most). If need be I can change my tbr read another one for this prompt.

message 78: by Trisha (new)

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments Snezana, since Angie is planning to read ‘Twelve Red Herrings’, we need not worry about book with 20, 12, 2012 or 25 in the title since that’s a solo prompt!

I can read the 25th book on my TBR, so we need to check if someone has an appropriate book at the 12th spot of their TBR.

Great! For the rest of the prompts I can find something to fit them, apart from two or more people reading together. But if we don't come across that in any of the books we read we can use Wild Cards on those. Or can a Wild Card be only used once per prompt? How does that work?

message 80: by Alyana (last edited Mar 22, 2021 12:04PM) (new)

Alyana | 1201 comments Just realized, my book that starts with L is less than 200 pages, will that count?

I can cover the Y book and my 12th book on my tbr.

message 81: by Trisha (last edited Mar 22, 2021 12:28PM) (new)

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments @Snezana, for the purpose of clarity, prompts that involve reading more than one book should be ideally can be called tasks. So a quartet task (or a 4-book prompt) consists of 4 prompts; we can use 1 wild card to eliminate 1 prompt, if we wish to eliminate the entire task, we will need 4 wild cards which will be earned post 4000 pages or 60 audio hours.

Karin | 252 comments My apologies all--I have been in a major migraine since Sat and missed that tracking part. And, due to migraines, etc, I am in the minority of people who are not checking devices from morning until bed time :)
Okay, I see now that I don't have to put in the pages per book--migraine brain is not great. A migraine is not just a headache, although it's the most common symptom it's a complex neurological issue.

Snezana wrote: "The prompts I can't do are:

Same here, but it was Shelfari that I joined then--I moved here when it was going to shut down and my main Shelfari group was moving here. I had a record of 2012, but it if it exists it would be buried in an archive on a board/group of homeschoolers where I haven't been active since sometime in 2014 when my youngest went full time to a brick and mortar school. We did a book a week, but I did that there for a number of years (since around the time GR was launched in 2006).

Karin | 252 comments Also, I can easily read something that I added to my tbr in the first three months since I joined here, since I just started right around the New Year and already have books here for that.

But this is getting a bit confusing since several of us are saying we can read the same books.

SO--books starting with Y and L--I have both and am not the only one, but who is going to read what?

My Y book can only fit that prompt and nothing else, plus it's due at the library before the time ends--I am reading some other books I need to get done. But my L book won't be due that soon and I can see if it fits something else.

ALSO--I will have at least 2 discs left of an unabridged long novel, so if anyone already knows of a prompt that The Three Musketeers I can count that. I am just about to start disk 13/18 tomorrow and don't have time to listen to more than one or one and a half per day.

Hi Karin, I have a book for an L (it's already on the sheet) and Y (I haven't put it yet in the sheet since we only put there our currently reading (2-3 books) not the planned reads. If you can finish the book for that prompt, I'm good, I just want to let you know that I have those books in case it's needed. ☺️

Hi Karin,
sorry to hear you’re not feeling very well at the moment. Migraines can be a real pain in the backside. Best wishes and hoping you're feeling yourself again very soon.

Let me know if I can help you with any of your team captain duties, but obviously I don't want to go over your head. For now I’m just kind of gathering information on who can read what and for which prompts.

To avoid too many duplicates some of the other teams have come up with a system of assigning books to prompts, in order to be clearer on who reads what, when several people have suggested books for the same prompts. Trisha (message #64) suggested that we might do it too, what do you think Karin?

That's right, it would be lovely if you could share the first 2-3 books you're going to read for the readathon and what prompts they fill. Either in the spreadsheet, or here if you prefer. If you have any books that can cover prompts we don't yet have anything for/don't have enough for, that would be fabulous. But please don't feel like you have to!

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments Thank you Angie for answering Avery!

Btw, an update from my side:

I’m nearly three-quarters through Magpie Murders and Never Let Me Go and have kept roughly 200 and 150 pages on hold for each of them respectively. So I will be able to finish both of these on the first day of the readathon.

I’ve just started Wonder and will repeat what I did with the other books, so as to finish this book on the second day, along with some other book - The Stranger perhaps.

I will start and finish Beneath the Sugar Sky on the third day. Will try to find and squeeze one more book.

So all my five books (and hopefully one more) fit in the currently reading panel. I’ll update more books in the spready post/on the third day once I’ve finished reading the above-listed books. Please note that since I’m yet to start Beneath the Sugar Sky and The Stranger, I can change these options if someone is filling those prompts.

I started My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry and the The Girls I've Been (I don't know which prompt will fit this book yet though. I haven't started Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin since this is less than 200 pages and I might start Yes No Maybe So tonight or tomorrow.
