I'm a complete noob when it comes to D&D. So I always thought it was a very extensive roleplaying board game accompanied by books that explain the game setting. I also knew there are some videogames. But I didn't know there are actual novels! Any books you can recommend to a beginner to D&D?

1. The Crystal Shard by R.A. Salvatore
2. Streams of Silver
3. The Halfling's Gem
DragonLance Chronicles:
1. Dragons of Autumn Twilight
2. Dragons of Winter Night
3. Dragons of Spring Dawning
I also loved the Spelljammer setting + novels...and I remember the first novel started on Krynn.

I have all three books of the Dark Elf trilogy but I have never gotten around to reading them. Should I read them?
That game looks pretty awesome! Ozzy!I totally thought it would be turn based combat, but it looks like it's real-time action based combat.
The Transitions trilogy (Legend of Drizzt 17-19) is available as audio books. It's all I've "read".Maybe start with book #1 Homeland
I'll eventually get it from Audible (It's an exclusive).

Who doesn't love the Forgotten Realms? Although I think I do prefer Krynn a bit more. I just bought an omnibus of the Icewind Dale trilogy.
