Oh so many! I'll come back later with the best of my favorites, but I'm sure Kathryn and others have great recs.

I think my SIL read her an abridged version of The Secret Garden after we watched some of a movie version (Margaret O'Brien).
We read The Maple Festival which I really liked and niece thought was good but didn't ask to read more.
I always loved the classics but the kids in my family don't seem to like them anymore.
I can't remember which books I gave niece #2. I don't see her as often and my sister isn't a reader so I think I stuck to picture books until she could read independently. Her brother is struggling with reading so I'm gifting him graphic novels he likes.
You might try the humorous series "Mercy Watson", beginning with
Mercy Watson to the Rescue by Kate DiCamillo. Short chapter books with very appealing illustrations.

What about Amelia Bedelia and sequels?
And The Worst Witch and its sequels are like a junior Harry Potter.

From Astrid Lindgren, the Emil and the Noisy Village novels are fun, informative about Sweden and nicely episodic (so you can pace reading to your daughter in a very organic manner).

PIB is fun! I read a few of them. They're funny, fun and the princess is totally non-traditional. Shannon Hale is a writer kids can grow into. Niece is now into graphic novels and I'm hoping she'll read Princess Academy if I gift it to her this year.
Niece #1 also loved Zita the Spacegirl. My brother read them with her at bedtime.

I'd recommend most books by William Steig. They're are picture books but slighly longer.
Two chapter books I love are Sonya Hartnett's SADIE AND RATZ and Ulf Stark's CAN YOU WHISTLE, JOHANNA?
If your daughter likes ***zany stuff***, maybe Barbro Lindgreen's SODA POP.
And I really liked the first book from the series ''Detective Gordon'', from Sweden. Truly a wonderful book for children: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
There are so many to choose from. I second Manybooks's recommendation of the Noisy Village series.
And I'd recommend a book I wrote -- narrated by the Sun ☼, no less -- but not only it's not allowed, it's not published in the English-speaking world (it was originally written in Portuguese, published in Brazil and recently sold to Germany).
Happy readings.

Hello, Rebecca! I have a five-year-old, too, and he's only recently getting interested in chapter books for read-alouds. Some of the books that we have really enjoyed together:
Sophie Mouse series (this is probably his favorite) begins with A New Friend. Really adorable series! I think it definitely fits the "not too long, with fun adventures" bill :-)
Zoey and Sassafras series (begins with Dragons and Marshmallows is a delight -- magical creatures and great STEM tie-ins
Craftily Ever After series (begins with The Un-Friendship Bracelet) is fun if your little ones enjoys arts and crafts. The "adventures" are pretty everyday, though.
The Humphrey the Hamster series that's for younger readers (begins with Humphrey's Really Wheely Racing Day) He loves these!
His older brother enjoys the Kingdom of Wrenly series (The Lost Stone). Some of those are too intense for my five-year-old, but you could preview and see what you think. Lots of adventures in these!
If your daughter likes fairies, check out the Flower Fairies novels. The vocabulary is more advanced, but my five-year-old actually really enjoyed some of them. Tansy's New Petals: A Flower Fairies Friends Chapter Book is his favorite.
Oh, and both my children love Winnie-the-Pooh :-)
Happy reading! :-)

It includes My Father's Dragon and Winnie The Pooh Treasury as others have suggested above, plus a number of other possibilities for you and your daughter.

I think my honorary niece liked those. She enjoyed Rainbow Fairies and Magic Tree House too.
Oh! another series my five-year-old enjoyed: Jenny and the Cat Club: A Collection of Favorite Stories about Jenny Linsky (I loved them, too!)
