Michelle | 3 comments Read in the late 80’s / early 90’s. I think it was a Set of four books about a girl who moved to a new town, weather was cold. She came into contact with a wizard type person and four magic plates and each plate was tied to a particular season. Winter, spring, summer and fall.

Michelle, can you tell us more about the four magic plates (e.g., size, location)?

Does the girl have special powers? Why does she move, and who does she live with? Real world setting or fantasy world?

I added some details to the header/topic title. You can update it by clicking the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, click the "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)

Michelle | 3 comments I don’t remember anything about her having powers but I think the plates were hanging on the wall in her grandmas house. It ends up that the wizard wants the plates because they have special powers.

The book was recommended on my libraries summer reading list. I remember is because as a preteen it was not the type of book that I usually read.

Becca (beccalikesbooks) | 5548 comments Sounds like Fours Crossing by Nancy Garden. It has the seasonal plates thing - the description on Goodreads doesn't mention them but it's been solved a couple of times before:

Michelle | 3 comments I think this is it! Thanks so much! Just ordered a copy because my library doesn’t have it.

Google Books has only a snippet preview of Fours Crossing by Nancy Garden - Becca's Rainbowheart's suggestion:

https://books.google.com/books?id=kkd...

Quotes from the book:
- ...the three large silver plates that Gran had asked for.
- Gran held up a hammer - "Call it vanity" - she laughed - "but I've been thinking I'd like to rearrange those plates a bit before the Festival, so they don't look so much as if one's missing."
- "What did you mean before when you said the plates were a sign and that something terrible is going on?"

Ah, but I wouldn't have found it if you (and Ayshe on another thread) hadn't solved it before!
