Michelle, can you tell us more about the four magic plates (e.g., size, location)?
Does the girl have special powers? Why does she move, and who does she live with? Real world setting or fantasy world?

The book was recommended on my libraries summer reading list. I remember is because as a preteen it was not the type of book that I usually read.

Google Books has only a snippet preview of Fours Crossing by Nancy Garden - Becca's Rainbowheart's suggestion:

Quotes from the book:
- ...the three large silver plates that Gran had asked for.
- Gran held up a hammer - "Call it vanity" - she laughed - "but I've been thinking I'd like to rearrange those plates a bit before the Festival, so they don't look so much as if one's missing."
- "What did you mean before when you said the plates were a sign and that something terrible is going on?"
