This is the beginning of a 3 or 4 book series. The story centers around a teen/tweenager who either goes to visit or live with her grandmother in a small town in New England. Her grandmother has always had a set of 4 decorative plates hanging on the wall of her dining room. Each plate depicts a scene from one of the four seasons (winter, spring, summer, and fall). Just before the girl arrives there has been a break-in at her grandmother's and one of the plates is missing. Also, it is unseasonably cold and wintery, even though it's summertime. There is a hermit character who kidnaps the girl and a local boy, who she is romantically interested in. I think the plot is that the hermit believes she is the reincarnation of some witch and wants to marry her, but I'm not sure. It is revealed that the plates are magical and by stealing the spring plate, the hermit has prevented the seasons from changing in the small town. I feel like the name of the town could have been Four Corners.
I read this book/series sometime in the late 80s, early 90s and I found it in the children's section of my local library. I have since moved and the library has been remodeled, so even if they have the book(s) still, I have no idea where to find it (then).
