For the second quarterly team challenge, we’re switching back to board games. Growing up, and even now as an adult, I played a lot of board games. Monopoly, Sorry, Risk, Trouble. And a favorite of mine was Guess Who! I thought making Guess Who into a quarterly challenge would be lots of fun! We have played Guess Who in the past when members were trying to Guess The Mod and again last year as a monthly team challenge. But never as a quarterly team challenge.
Members will be split into even teams and work together to try to figure out who my character is! Members will ask questions to narrow down a huge list of who my character might be. After getting a character correct, we’ll start the process over with a new character. But of course, there’s certain ways to ask your questions! Keep reading to see what the challenge entails! :D

<50 pages = .25 points
51 - 99 pages = .5 points
^^^ these books will only count for page points
100 - 149 pages = 1 point
150 - 249 pages = 2 points
250 - 349 pages = 3 points
350 - 449 pages = 4 points
450 - 549 pages = 5 points
550 - 649 pages = 6 points
650 - 749 pages = 7 points
750 - 849 pages = 8 points
850 - 949 pages = 9 points
950+ = 10 points
Buddy Reads will DOUBLE your points.
BOTM will TRIPLE your points.
Challenge Rules
If you’ve ever played Guess who, you know that you normally play with two people. Each person has a character that they pick. Then they go back and forth asking yes or no questions to narrow down who the other person’s character might be. You might ask “is your person wearing glasses?” or “is your person blonde?” etc. This is exactly how we’re going to play the game except you’ll always be trying to figure out who my character is, not another team’s.
Now, there will be some basic things you’ll always know about my character:
Now, you’re probably wondering how to ask your yes or no questions throughout the challenge! Well, it’s simple. You’ll be using book covers, titles/series names, and in text words to ask your questions! (To use a series name/title you must use already together words. Meaning you could use a Black Dagger Brotherhood book for the word black.)
For example:
You want to ask the question - “Is your character a female?”
Here is a list of example books you could read to ask that question:
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Because there is a female on the cover
Caraval by Stephanie Garber
Because on page 156 the word female is in the text
The Female Brain by Louann Brizendine
Because the word female is in the title
These types of questions will help you narrow down the list of characters that the answer may be. But if you wanted to really narrow it down, say to within a few characters, you could ask more in depth questions. See below.
For example:
You want to ask the question - “Does your character have black hair?”
Here is a list of example books you could read to ask that question:
Wonder by R.J. Palacio
Because there is a person on the cover with black hair
Where She Went by Gayle Forman
Because there is brown hair on the cover and the word black is in text
Dark Lover by J.R. Ward
Because black is in the series title and hair is in text
You want to ask the question - “Does your character have blue eyes?”
Here is another example of a way you might use a book to ask that question:
Playing It Cool by Amy Andrews
Because the cover is blue and the word eyes is in loc. 92 in text

******** I will only be updating scores once per day. And never on evenings/weekends. Please keep this in mind when posting your books. I only go onto GR while at work. 8:30-4:30pm (EST) You will not always hear from me immediately. I will try to pop onto GR throughout the day, if I have time, to answer your questions regarding who the character might be. If for some reason you literally just cannot wait - Alaina, Andy, and Aly all have my cell number and can get in touch with me on a weekend. ********
Now, on to the character final guesses. If a team thinks they have narrowed down the possible characters enough and want to make a guess, they may. Final guesses do not have any rules to follow. You just post on your team’s review thread a comment (without a book for points, just a comment by itself.) that says who your team thinks the character is. I will answer if you are correct or not.
Teams will receive 10 bonus points for every correct character they figure out. HOWEVER! If a team thinks they know the character without really having figured out who the character is but they have a general idea and they make a final guess and it is incorrect they will have five bonus points taken away! So yes! It is possible to have negative bonus points at the beginning of the challenge if your team just makes guesses all willy nilly. ***This challenge will have captains, and in order to keep final guesses at a minimum so teams don’t just go guessing and lose points left and right, only captains will be allowed to post final answers.
A SS will be made for each team and put onto the teams chat threads sometime before the start of the challenge.

**it’s better to low ball than to write you’re going to read more books than you actually will, you won’t be letting your team down that way.**
