Noah Coleman | 3 comments I hope I have followed the rules here and if not please let me know, as I have been searching long and hard for this book. I read this book as a child probably from years 2007-2010, or maybe younger. I am unsure of many of the explicit details of the title, author, and illustrator of course, as I only read it very young and payed no attention to these details. The only things I remember are that the book had a black cover I believe, with doors or windows and a young boy all floating in space with white stars in the background. From what I can recall, the plot was centered around the boy traveling to new worlds through his dreams or imagination (or possibly just implied, but shown to be portals through windows and doors) and it was relatively light hearted and whimsical. The only clear image I remember was of the boy caught laying in a giant spider's web, with the giant spider in frame, implied to be coming nearer to him. The boy escapes, and goes to another surreal world. There may have been Egyptian pyramids as one of the locations he travelled to as well. I believe at the end of the book, the boy makes his way back home through a door or something, and it is implied it was all his imagination, or in his dreams. The illustration style was pretty realistic and detailed, with dark and muted colors. Other books that I feel represent some similarities in theme are the Harold and the Purple Crayon, and Where the Wild Things Are. Any and all suggestions are helpful, as I have no leads still after years trying to find this book. My memory of this book is weak at best, so I know that isn't much to go on. Thank you for any help.

Noah, can you describe the illustrations - e.g., simple or detailed, realistic or cartoon-like, painted watercolors or bold graphics, color or black-and-white? Do they remind you of a similar illustrator or picture book author?

I added a few details to the header/topic title. You can update it by clicking the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, click the "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)

Noah Coleman | 3 comments Yes thank you for your comment! From what I remember it was pretty realistic, in muted colors, pretty detailed and probably watercolor? But again, the details are so very fuzzy to me now after nearly 15 years. I can tell you the vibe I get from these memories was very surreal, so while it was detailed and realistic, the imagery was strange and very dream like. I remember there being sharp edges, not blurred or soft.

Mai | 1280 comments I searched for a while yesterday but couldn't find anything that fit. I gave it another try and I found one that might be it! At least there's a page with a drawing of the boy caught in a spider's web (and the spider in a corner like you said) over a pyramid...
