I read this book in either middle school or high school (so, it probably came out sometime before 2014). It was about this girl who has really bad luck (possibly because she broke a mirror?) and she has this Jinx attached to her, which takes the form of a shadow monster that only she can see. She still has a mom but her dad is missing. I think the Wizard of Oz also somehow tied into it, like she goes and visits Oz but it's not like it is in the original books. I think there's a main bad lady (a witch?) and she has two evil daughters, one might be named Coco. And then (SPOILER ALERT) at the end she finds out the shadow Jinx was her dad all along, he had been cursed by the witch.

Before she goes to the Oz world, was it set in our modern-day world, or a fantasy world, or a historical time period?

It was set in a modern world, I believe. There were cars and such, and at one point she's in a regular classroom.

I hadn't! I just took a look at it now though, and it doesn't appear to be on there. It's possible it maybe a more middle grade novel than YA?
