The best book I read in February was The War I Finally Won by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. This is the sequel to Newbery Honor Book The War That Saved My Life.
My best read was Little Bird Lands. It's a historical fiction about a Scottish girl new life in America. Set at the end of the civil war, this book gives a good flavour of immigrant life in America. I was whisked away to the time. I could picture the activities they did, their outlook in life and even the details of what they ate.

It depends on the state, but usually students turn 10 before they enter 5th grade. I consider 4th grade to be the lower end of the middle grades/school.
I really did enjoy (even though my rankings were only three stars) two Eva Ibbotson novels, Journey to the River Sea and The Dragonfly Pool.

Thanks to publishing deadlines, my own reading was on the skimpy side last month, but I do have two titles to share. Silver Batal and the Water Dragon Races by K.D. Halbrook is an amazing fantasy series starter, and I finally got around to reading The Jumbies by Tracey Baptiste, which is a tense tale with a folk lore feel. Good stuff!
