Task 10 - 69. Read 6 books that have won/been nominated for an award.
She Can Run (She Can #1) by Melinda Leigh
read: April 4
pages: 327 kindle edition
rating: 4 stars
qualifies: ITW Thriller Award Nominee for Best First Novel (2012) See main book page; literary awards
review: I have read a couple of books by Melinda Leigh so was curious to start this series. The prologue caught my attention and the book kept me interested from there. Beth and her two children are on the run from her highly influential, abusive husband. The book goes on to tell her story with a bit of romance, lots of suspense and action to keep you reading to see how it all ends. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

This was a short book, the last in the series. Isabella and William meet and have a short fling, which is interrupted by Isabella's choice of drugs over the guy. Years later they meet again; Izzy is now clean and William is a police officer. The initial chemistry is still there, but Izzy doesn't feel worthy of William. This was a cute book, but not very memorable. I listened to the audio version and parts of the dialogue were so stilted, it was often difficult to listen to.

Jack Peterson has struggled with his relationship with his brother, always being in competition and his brother usually being the winner. But over time Jack has had his own successes, now being a well-known reporter with CNN. Meg Andrews is an NTSB investigator and meets Jack when a plane crashes in Maine, parts of it landing in Jack's parent's yard. I like how this series deals with relationships and the weird way things happen to put us into a path we never expected. This particular books touches on past lives, which is interesting to me.

Review: What an amazing journey for Ash. It was awesome to spend the whole book with him as the main character. I don't want to go into details about what happened in the book, but it was a fantastic journey for Ash and his companions. There were moments that made me laugh out loud-thanks to Puck of course!- and moments that brought tears to my eyes. This was another fantastic installment in this series and I hope we get more to come.

Review: This a sweet mm hockey story that is a little outdated, but still overall an enjoyable read. I liked that the two MC's were really nice guys who cared about their families and their friends. There was really no conflict at all in the story, it was just these two getting to know each other and starting a relationship. It was very low-key, just what I needed today.

Review: This book had me laughing out loud so many times. Chase was funny and the banter between the two main characters was sassy and funny. Despite some cliched moments... guy loses girl, tries to win girl back, wins girl back I definitely loved it. And who doesn't love a pet goat on top of all that?

I like the idea of this book more than I liked this book.

There are just so many characters and backgrounds to keep track of I just got a little lost. The names are quite unusual so you'd think it would be easier to remember who was who but nope got lost again.

What do you all want to pick?

My preference would be summer but I could do any. I feel like Autumn would be the hardest.

This book was fun. Maybe Willis has been in love with her brother's best friend since she was 11 years old. She hasn't seen him since she was 13, until he comes into her parent's flower shop and .... he doesn't recognize her!! She doesn't enlighten him, and then proceeds to text him when she's still coming off anesthesia after a wisdom tooth removal - hilarious! When Maybe's brother asks Milo to help his sister out in the pursuit of a job, Milo and Maybe start hanging out (and then, of course, more.) This book was so funny - I loved Maybe's dad and his Bruce-isms, as well as the stuff that came out of Maybe's mouth.

My Brother's Billionaire Best Friend
