Task 7 - 47. Read 6 books set in a major city.

Book/cover link: To My Future Number 1 Fan by L.A. Witt To My Future Number 1 Fan
Page numbers:443/GR--kindle edition
How book qualified: Set in Los Angeles MPG précis “Struggling actor Adam Jacobsen was ready to pack up and leave Hollywood “
Date Completed: 3/28
Rating: 3 stars
Review: This was ok, a typical actor/regular guy romance where conflict is all wrapped up in the paparazzi crap. I did like the characters though, and the dog Lola practically stole the whole show.

How book qualified, with links or cover as necessary: Set in Chicago - noted in book description
Date Completed: 3/28/21
Rating/Review: 4 stars
Ginger Peet and her sister grew up with a neglectful mother, and when they find the chance to get away, they take it, moving to Chicago to start a new life. Derek Tyler is a detective who takes an interest in his new neighbor. But Ginger is used to taking care of herself and her sister, and doesn't let new people in easily. Although this story was short and so didn't have a lot of time to develop the characters, I did enjoy it - it was fast paced with sexy and suspenseful times

Megan | 1025 comments Great thanks both. I had a hissyfit at some of the books I was picking up showing a setting and I was not in the mood to search tags.

Off to bed now. I'm officially on BST now so its nearly 11pm here.

I will finish my book tomorrow.

I'm like Megan... setting tasks are not my favorite.

This was a fun and humorous book, with some serious parts as well. Chase Reynaud has guardianship over his two young nieces, and they have done everything they can to chase all their governesses away. Alexandra Mountbatten takes up the challenge and in the process of trying to win over the girls, she also starts to win over their uncle. I loved the characters in this book, including the doll!!

review: This was a cute, funny rom com that I enjoyed very much. Taylor's grandmother was a hoot but gave very sound advice. The fundraising event was hilarious and worth the read! I would definitely read other books from this series hoping they were as good as this one!

Laura | 2514 comments So...my mom came over this afternoon and we went out and got a couple of things for Easter and dad's birthday. I drive mom's car when we are together..well I left my phone in her car and she drove home. I'm frustrated with myself because I forgot my phone and then had to drive an hour out and an hour back to grab my phone🤨
Silver lining...I guess I didn't fall asleep on the couch like the last few nights.

I really enjoyed this book! Mercy gets involved in hunting down a vampire sorcerer and encounters much mayhem, death and destruction in the process. It was hard to put the book down - I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next. There are a lot of characters, and I did sometimes have a bit of trouble keeping everybody straight, but there was never a dull moment in this book.

Blood Bound Blood Bound (Mercy Thompson, #2) by Patricia Briggs
Read: 31st March

Qualifies: Book #2 in Mercy Thompson Series
Rating: 5 stars
Review:
Such a good second book.

I like that Mercy is a mechanic, although this is very loosely mentioned and shown in the book because its not about her being a mechanic its just enough for me to enjoy it and appreciate how this affects her character.

I wish I knew who she was going to pick out of the triangle she has got going on and really if this isn't resolved in a book soon I'll be dropping my rating by a star its only so amusing you know?

This really kept me interested and I was really keen to know how she was going to find the bad vampire and how she was going to save the day. Although it felt a little quick I was relieved(?) that she'd done it so I thought the author did a great job in getting me engaged and well dependent on the win for Mercy.

Review: This just about blew my head off. I loved the non-stop action, but most of all I loved how Mercy really starts to explore her own magic and use it in different ways. I think my favorite scene was where she "changed the rules" because she's Coyote's daughter and can do that. I know this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to her exploring this side of who she is, and I can't wait to get into the next book to see what else she gets up to.

review: This is one of my favorite series and I am currently waiting for the next installement. I rarely reread books but I am happy I did. I definitely enjoyed it more this time around and having read it in 2017 I had forgotten a lot of the first book. Mercy is sassy, confident, intelligent and strong, all characteristics I love in my female leads. It was fun watching Mercy fall for Adam all over again!

I'm not saying this book is bad... but it is a 2 star book. I've read some instant love and been a reader of M&B since a teenager but oh my god this book felt super short.

Not even in a good way. It was rushed and well incomplete. So much could have been done with this story and the storyline was pretty interesting really.

This book was okay. Madison Myers goes to a concert with her friend and catches the eye of music star Walker Rhodes. Madison can't understand why Walker is pursuing her, and his interest drags her work life into the drama (she works for a talent agency.) The story was not real believable, but it did move along quickly (short and sweet!)

Review: This was a good mystery/romance/suspense novel that really kept my interest. I liked Livvy, I thought she was pretty damn brave. Noah was a bit harder for me, mainly because I didn't really understand his motivations for writing the book in the first place. But overall I really enjoyed the read.
