Did you know we have Staff Favorites list? It's the first list found here:

https://www.slcolibrary.org/we-recomm...

It changes about twice a month, and all books were read by library staff and given either 4 or 5 stars. There are lots of different types of titles included in the list.

We also have a Staff Favorites page on Goodreads:

https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/3...

This has staff favorites listed all the way back to 2010, when the list started.

For March, read a Staff Favorite. Let me know if you liked it too.

Good luck!

Deborah | 184 comments I will be reading one of these three books:
Enchantment by Camille Peters Added to Goodreads staff favorites list Feb 9, 2021
A Proper Charade by Esther Hatch Added to goodreads staff favorites list Feb 9 2021
Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga On library website staff picks.

The book I pick depends on which one I get first. Looking forward to reading all of these eventually!

Ooh, sounds fun. The only one of those I have read is Other Words for Home. And it is SO GOOD. It made me cry. It's actually a Children's Fiction Beehive Nominee. It's a novel in verse, and I loved it.

I did not know that! Hopefully I will get it from the library in time to read it this month!

One week down, three to go. Let me know which Staff Favorite you've read.

message 10: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 181 comments I wanted something short so I went to the children's section of the list and read Mercy Watson Fights Crime. I have only read part of the Mercy Watson books, but out of those I think I like "Mercy Watson Goes for a Ride" best.

message 11: by Tanya (new)

Tanya | 36 comments I've been meaning to pick up the Lady Sherlock series, so I was pretty happy to see A Study in Scarlet Women on the list. It was pretty fun. I liked the flouting of conventions while still having to live inside of them.

Debbie (dashforcover) | 1219 comments I read Plume by Isabelle Simler and loved it! It was not at all what I expected.

Greg (danceyeah) | 289 comments I read Red Moon by Kim Stanley Robinson.

3/3 for 2021

message 16: by JoAnn (last edited Mar 21, 2021 11:11AM) (new)

JoAnn (jladybug) | 144 comments I read a lot of picture books.
Bear Came Along
SumoKitty
Grumpy Monkey
The Rabbit Listened particularly good
This Is the Nest That Robin Built
Interrupting Chicken
Oh, the Places You'll Go!
What Do You Do with an Idea?
The Giving Tree
The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors
Peter & Ernesto: A Tale of Two Sloths

Since I am reading several other books and don't have time to read The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise (I have a physical copy on the table next to me), I'll reread several of these picture books with my son this week.

message 17: by Becky (new)

Becky | 280 comments I read The Night Circus, which was a reread for me. I liked it even better the second time; true escapist read!

This is on my "perhaps one of these days" list. Sounds like I need to move it to my "sooner rather than later" list!

message 19: by Darin (new)

Darin | 121 comments I listened to "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue," by V. E. Schwab, instead of "The Dutch House," which I'll listen to another time.

message 20: by Deborah (new)

Deborah | 184 comments I just finished Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga. I am so glad this book was recommended. It is such a good read! Fair warning, your emotions will be pulled at.

message 22: by Linda (last edited Mar 27, 2021 07:26PM) (new)

Linda Nielson | 279 comments I read Love & Olives (Love & Gelato, #3) by Jenna Evans Welch by Jenna Evans Welch.
I think it was the best of the 3 in the series.

message 23: by Deborah (last edited Mar 28, 2021 11:02PM) (new)

Deborah | 184 comments I just finished Enchantment by Camille Peters from the Staff Picks Goodreads list. It is an engaging retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I am definitely going to have to look at this list more often. I have loved 2 of 2 picks so far.

Essentially it covers 80 years of a family.
