SOLVED. Children's Moral/ Fable Picture book. Healing potion/ liquid is gifted to a king. People from his kingdom visit asking him to save their families. He always says no because he's saving it. Read in 2003.

Thank you for adding the details. It wasn't a chapter book/novel and short enough for the teacher to read it to us in class so yes more likely to be a picture book. I don't have an exact memory though.
It seems to be a Biblical story / sermon about King Solomon: https://biblehub.com/sermons/pub/fata...I haven't been able to find a picture book version / children's textbook etc. that includes the story, though.

I've changed header to solved but unsure how to move it to the solved group or if that occurs automatically.
Something along the lines of: A king is given a present which is this liquid/potion and it has the ability to heal people. People from all over his kingdom visit asking for his help to save family. He always says no as he is saving it for a really important or worthy person. One day either he or his Queen falls ill and he goes to use the potion but it has all evaporated.
