Chapter 10- (view spoiler)[ This is picking up!! I'm very intrigued by Koy and would love to know more about Clove's history. The writing is so simple and easy to get into. I read reviews of the first book to help me remember everything that happened, and I noticed a lot of them mentioned how atmospheric the writing is and how they felt like they were on the ship with the characters. I couldn't put my finger on it earlier, but this is so true! The first person narrative is done very well, and I'm anxious to get further into the story. (hide spoiler)]

Finally started! Really had to figure out where the book left off, I couldn't remember much :P

I remember that I had a theory last book, about Clove being West his father. Can't wait to find out! I also don't really remember why Zola gave Willa her scars, do you remember that part?

Can't wait to find out more about this new crew, I love how we're immediately thrown back into the story, it's really easy to read!

I’m glad she didn’t find the midnight, because it felt a bit unrealistic if she’d found it in a week, even with her being a gem sage and all. Holland knew she wouldn’t though.
I still think the midnight is in the necklace from her mother, the one she stole from Saint in the first book. Since she said the waters at Fable’s Skerry (or what it was called?) reminded her of her mother? She’ll probably find it somewhere in the next few chapters. (hide spoiler)]

“I didn’t plan to be a father. I didn’t want to be one. But the first time I held you in my hands, you were so small. I had never been so terrified of anything in my life. I feel like I’ve barely slept since the night you were born.”

FINALLY!!! I love, love, LOVED how that all just went done, I nearly screamed of excitement with the whole Holland thing unraveling! (hide spoiler)]

I second that, the grandmama's a bitch. Little life tip from a (sheltered) 17 year old.... You probably shouldn't manipulate family members to get them to stick around? Maybe? Little bit of a red flag there.... but then again Saint did literally abandon Fable on Jeval so like not very high standards

I do have one question, why is it bad if Holland takes over all the trade? Would it make life worse for people, because idk how things could get much worse it seems like a pretty brutal world. Literally have no clue at all how trade works or anything but if Holland is rich wouldn't there be more money circulating and that'd be good? Or would something else happen that'd be bad? they didn't REALLY explain why this situation is bad so I'm confused (hide spoiler)]

Or they’ll all have to work for her, no point in ppl captaining their own ships when she owns the sea. Plus she’ll have control of pricing everything as well, it would make her supremely powerful and no one needs that much power, she’s scary and mean lol (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[In the first part of the book when she was on that island Jeval, he was a dredger and he tried to steal her money or her pyre or her spot where she dredges from, in detail I don’t exactly know how to tell you, but she hit him she injured him and he almost drowned and she took him out of the water, left him on the shore, ran away from him, he followed her, she got on the Merigold, paid West and then the Merigold left and he was waiting there threatening to basically impale her lol but you get the point lol (hide spoiler)]
