Caroline Stark | 2 comments - Realistic fiction/teen romance. I remember reading it in 2015 or maybe a year or two before.
- *I cannot remember any names*
- It is centered around a girl and her family is spanish. The girl has a younger brother who is very good at basketball. She lives on the same street as her best friend, who’s name may have started with an M.
- The girl did something bad/embarrassing at a party the summer before senior year. I am almost positive she was drinking and someone got a video. Because of this, her parents are hesitant about letting her go out.
- The girl had recently broken up with her previous boyfriend, whom her parents disliked.
- At the beginning of her senior year, she meets the new kid (a boy) and immediately likes him, but is hesitant. They end up working on a project together in spanish class. They eventually go on a dates to the movies and to a Mexican restaurant. The girl's best friend also begins to date her brother. I remember a very specific moment where the two couples are playing a game of basketball in the girls driveway after dinner, while the parents sit in fold out chairs and watch.
- The girl is accepted to a very prestigious college and the boy is kind of poor and needed at home so he doesn’t go to college. This causes them to break up. However, they meet years later and date again.

Rainbowheart | 28717 comments Do you mean the girl was Spanish like from Spain?

Did this book take place in the USA? Seems more likely she would have been Mexican or a different ethnicity.

Mai | 1280 comments Better Off or Without You by Yesenia Vargas? They came up in a search. The main character is not Spanish but Hispanic (the reviews said her parents are Mexican).
