I read this book maybe a year ago and I believe it's a series. Baby is left at a monastery for fighting monks, raised to be the perfect killer with multiple rules (I remember he falls out of a tree and breaks his leg but has to keep training) and for his final challenge he is ordered to kill all of his teachers. His last teacher is dying and accidentally tells him to "protect your friends" as his dying command. As the man has never had friends he is confused and ends up trying to protect new people that he meets. He's socially inept and it's hilarious as he tries to follow his rules and take care of his friends. I believe at one point he takes down the gangsters in a village to protect one of his "friends". He also set traps in his room and checked every room he entered for traps. Was always going out the windows instead of doors. This seemed like it was Asian in setting.

Please help as I loved this character!
