I can't even remember the premise which I know is not helpful. I think it is written in first person by one of the children who also has a color/paint/plant name. The mom is an painter? The kids' names come from colors that are ALSO plants, used for natural paint dyes. It's like a family drama/character study? It isn't action-packed or anything. My mom chose it as a book for us to listen to on our way to elementary school in the early 2000s so it is appropriate for children but could have been an emotional story.
