Cheryl, very sorry to hear of another of your family passing away :( My condolences to you and the family.

Thank you, Kathy. It’s been a long day.

Thank you, Sandra. Justin and Jason had been best friends since they were seven. Justin’s family pretty much abandoned him when he was 8. He became a part of our family and the boys were raised like brothers. Even when Jason married he told his now wife that Justin was a part of the deal. He lived with them. I’m glad he was able to come home with hospice. He was where he wanted to be when he passed. Justin was a huge Devon Monk fan. He left me all of her books. Guess I need to start reading them.

That's such a lovely story Cheryl. Glad it worked out for him, but sorry for the family nonetheless.
I'm sure you'll enjoy Devon Monk, I've read a few & really liked them, got more of them I haven't gotten to yet.

Review: I love a good retelling and this one was a lot of fun. I appreciated the mix of contemporary and fantasy settings, putting Harper (our Belle) as a stranger in a strange land thrown in with our beastly Prince Rhen. The twist here is that we don’t see Rhen as the beast until the very end. Belle has to fall in love with him as the prince, but can a girl kidnapped (even by mistake) truly fall in love with a stranger?
I feel like Kemmerer navigates these difficulties well enough, but the love triangle seemed to complicate things in a way that didn’t feel enjoyable. The story has a brisk opening and a nice climax, but the middle third felt too slow with very little action. I would have liked to see Harper more conflicted and exploratory about her feelings for Rhen and Grey. She never seems to commit to whether she sees Grey as a friend or love interest, and also never even considers it. Yet the tension is there and she also doesn’t seem to be purposefully ignoring any feelings she may have. She simply never appears to have any one way or the other, which feels like a lost opportunity to add some richness to the story.
I liked the ending despite a somewhat predictable twist. I enjoyed the world and the characters, but I’m not sure how anxious I am to see how the new arc gets resolved. I’ll put the next book on the back burner for now.

Men, Sima thought, can't live with them, can't beat them to death with a nine iron.
Sima and Eve's nemesis, Trina, discover the body of Sima's scumbag, cheating ex. Eve and Peabody get thrust into the murder of an awful man that no one seemed to like. Throw in blackmail and it all gets a bit sketchy.
This series never gets old for me. I particularly like it when I read the books fairly close together because of the continuity. The previous book was early in the Christmas season and now we are just days away from the holiday. Eve's aversion to shopping was an amusing diversion in the storyline.
The murder victim was a despicable man and no one seemed to care that he was killed. Even with that, Eve knew she had to find his killer. I love her methodical mind and how she works everything out. I didn't pick up on the culprit until Eve was on the way to confront them.
I appreciated that the annual Christmas party had a bit more than just a mention. Eve actually got in the spirit of the evening and mingled. Will wonders ever cease? Her extreme anxiety around Trina always makes me smile. I think Trina won the day when she added a secret temporary tattoo on Eve for the big event.
The plot was well done and it is always a pleasure to catch up with all the characters. Roarke and Eve have such an amazing relationship that shines in all the books.
I could gush about this series all day. I hate I waited so long to start it but I am slowly catching up. This is a series that I highly recommend.

I wasn't sure how much I was going to like this since it was not with the brothers but surprisingly still loved it. It was a bit different and felt a bit younger but that is because we are dealing with a younger generation here. I missed this world and can not wait to see where she takes it. In this one they are opening the school back open but they are not messing around this time they are not holding hardly anything back to test this younger generation and why should they its is a war they are fighting and the Lesser's are not going to hold anything back. Many of them know this because it seems everyone has lost someone or knows someone that has been lost. I am excited for people to be stepping out from their positions and being who they want and not feeding into the past and how things used to be. Though I did like these side story about these trainees I definitely liked Butch being in there. I always love how J.R. Ward shows that just because they hit happily ever after doesn't mean it is easy afterwards you have to keep growing together or else problems ensue.

Review — Susan Stoker packs such a punch into her stories! In this installment of the Delta Force Heroes series, she tackles two seemingly broken souls who help mend each other. Bryn was such a fun, quirky character. Although it’s not made clear, she appears to be on the autistic spectrum. Regardless, she is extremely honest and straightforward and has such an amazing heart. Fish has been seen a bit in previous books, but it was difficult to like him at first. His brash reaction to Bryn and his horrible behavior made it difficult to feel sympathy for him, despite his disability. However, Ms. Stoker does an amazing job of redeeming him slowly as he discovers Bryn sees Fish, the man, not Fish, the disabled soldier.

thanks Sandra! this book worked for a few challenges I'm in. =)

Review: It's been a long time since I read the first book in this series so it took a bit of time for me to catch up on everything. I remember really loving the first book but this one was just okay. I didn't feel the chemistry between Rogan and Nevada the way I had hoped. I liked the story in this a lot though. We learn some family secrets, Nevada grows into her powers, and the side characters are all a lot of fun. I'm definitely curious enough to keep going to see how this family moves along together into this new future ahead of them.

"Why am I waiting for the bride of Dracula to grace me with her presence when I should be out looking for my runaway wife?"
This is the second book in the night Rebel series. It picks up a few weeks after Shades of Wicked. Ian should have completely forgotten Veritas but has not and is trying to find her.
First, I have to say that Ian is one of my favorite characters from the Night Huntress series. I love his mouthy, snarky self. I really love that Veritas balances him out. He is still the ultimate bad boy but we also get to see a softer side of him with her. Veritas is an amazing character. So many new things come out about her in this book. We learn more about her life, family and her work. She tries so hard to stay true to her Law Guardian status while attempting to get vengeance for Ian.
New characters are woven into the storyline that I can see being important in future books. The settings are amazing and I feel like I am there as I read the descriptions.
It was good to see "old" characters pop in. Gotta love Cat and Bones! I must say that Ian and Veritas give them a run for their money.
I read this book in a couple of hours because I didn't want to put it down. Now I need to check and see if I have the next one on my shelf because you know it ended with a bit of a cliffhanger.
I highly recommend this series!

Review: Coming back to this series after a long time away and hoo boy I forgot how spicy Kresley Cole can write those sex scenes. 🤣 I liked the setup with the Hie competition and enemies to lovers trope. I was a little disappointed that I never got the chance to fall in love with either character. Something felt missing for me despite their great chemistry and backstories. Maybe it’s just that the instant bonded mate scenario isn’t my thing but it was a little boring having to root for a couple that I wasn’t sure really belonged together outside of fate. Some fun action scenes, though, and I really liked the side characters.

Review — This was another great installment in this series! There was a lot going on, but it all worked well together to bring about an interesting conclusion and new beginning for Kitty.

At first I did not like this book it was really bouncy and confusing on who's perspective we were watching from. I did get used to it though and didn't hold that against the book to much. I like all the sexy times there was for this. Did I like the characters, I didn't mind Sara. Zach eh I wasn't totally on board but definitely could see where Alpha-male was labeled as. I am definitely intrigued enough to keep going with the series I definitely want to see Mikki's and Collen's story and even see who Angelina ends up with. We already know what type but whooooo. I kind of like how they foretold of there happily ever afters to come by a simple conversation if they like dogs or cats. In some spots the relationship felt so slow and others they kind of glossed over like things that happened in the past I definitely would have liked to see more on that and maybe we will.
