Magpie67 | 9 comments Hello Kim and fellow romance readers:

My name is Dena and I'm an avid reader of many genres but I love to see romance in them all whether light or hot and heavy. Depends on my mood which romance I will grab too. I love the English Ton stories, pirates, highlanders and westerns. I'm pretty picky about my romance plot too. So if the synopsis doesn't grab me right away... I don't put it on my list to read.

I especially love to read all the above with real historical value mixed in with the fictional characters.

Bio: married 20 yrs, 2 children: a girl who will be 15 in May and a son who is 17. Both my children are readers... My son is now following my horror genre. My daughter is all over the place like me, but loves the Hunger Games series, Divergent series, The Fault in Our Stars type books. Over Christmas she decided (finally) to read the Harry Potter series and is head over heels in love with it.

I work at a small newspaper office and while I do the accounting, answer phones, greet customers (girl Friday), I get to write a weekly column for my local book club. Just recently my boss made me put a picture with my by-line. Not sure I like that.... but everyone in town just about knows me so I guess... I love to read and review books and chat about books that are here and those about to be released. I love helping people find their next best title to rave about. I love researching books!

My biggest love (genre) are mysteries featuring detectives, FBI profilers, and forensic chatter. When I've read a dark mystery, I like to grab a cozy mystery or a romance to tone things down a bit. The cozy mysteries usually have a romance going on too, so that's always good! I love series too!!!

I will confess: because I love pirate stories, I did download on my kindle a syfy gay pirate title and I enjoyed it very much. ;o)

Anything else you want to know, just ask

;o)

Rakisha (rakishabpl) | 2 comments Hi. I'm Rakisha. I'm 42. I started reading Harlequin Presents books when I was 12 or 13--my aunt had been a member of the book club and left a few when she moved out. I stopped reading romance in college and picked up again full time in 2010. My favorite Harlequin titles are the Blaze and Desire and Super Romance. I also like the Mills & Boon titles that get released here because I love Australian heroes. lol. I'm a teen librarian, Girl Scout leader, mom of a 9 year old and an 7 year old, and I'm soon celebrating my 20th wedding anniversary.

Kris Rafferty (krisrafferty) | 49 comments Hi, my name is Kris Rafferty. I just released my second Intrigue Noir book three days ago, The Seduction of Lucy. Publishing with Harlequin has been a dream come true for me. I've read them since elementary school. My mom used to go to the library for me during summer vacation and sweep the shelves into a shopping bag for me. Voracious reader was I. lol When I was in high school I'd troll the bookstores for the latest, and wait for my shipment in the mail. Yesterday I asked my husband, when you were a teenager, did you ever think of getting married? Like who and where you'd marry? He said, guys don't think about that. I laughed and said, that's all I thought of growing up, and then I made a career out of it! I'm incredibly lucky to live out this dream of being a romance writer and I'm truly grateful for the experience.

Hi Carol! Intrigue Noir a miniseries the Intrigue line did over the holidays. The first one was in November. My debut ebook Call Me Tiffany was released then. I'm really excited about this new one, The Seduction of Lucy. Very dark, exciting, high tension and action. lol Very noir.

Nice to meet you! I read romance since I was a teen also and can't seem to write anything without a romance focus.

I'm a new grandma with one little grandgirl.

I still reread classic Betty Neels romances that are years old but never go out of style.

Hi everyone. It is great to see so many new faces. I'm at a friend's house right now so I can't stay long but I just had to stop in and welcome you all.

One thing I say...

OMG Wendy Douglas! I remember your books! Recognized your name right away and am so happy to hear you are back to writing.

I did warn you all that my favorite genre is Historicals.

Another quick comments until I get home: my daughter is a Girl Scout and she loves it. One of her favorite things she has done with them was interviewing a couple of authors for one of her badges.

Congratulations Lyn on becoming a grandma!

Rich Amooi (richamooi) Hi everyone! :) So great to be here—thanks for the invite. My name is Rich Amooi and I wrote romantic comedies. I am obsessed with them! It started back in the 80s when I saw the movie When Harry Met Sally for the first time. Since then, I've seen every just about every rom-com movie under the sun. Then, my wife gave me a romance novel and that just took the obsession to another level. :) As I mentioned on another thread, I love the happy ending (I have to have it!) and I love my romance with humor. Kristan Higgins is one of my favorites.

message 68: by Sherrie (new)

Sherrie Lowe | 1 comments Hi Everyone,

My name is Sherrie Lowe and thank you for inviting me to join the group. I have read Harlequin books in the past. I like romance stories usually with a touch of the supernatural although not vampires and fantasy monsters, something about the afterlife usually gets my interest and I like to write that too. My book Angel Breaths which is narrated the spirit of a miscarried child is on its last free day(7th Feb)today. It is a controversial subject and won't be to everyone's liking but the idea came from a news item some years ago on abortion laws which asked the question, 'At what point does a baby have a soul?' It got me thinking and I wondered if it were as early as conception - or even before, what comes first, the soul or the cluster of cells - how would that soul feel if it were to be miscarried or aborted? My intention was that it would be comforting to anyone who has lost a child that early in as much as they may have gone to a lovely place and were being cared for by loved ones but don't take my own opinions on it, have a look and form your own.

Scott Hildreth (scotthildreth) | 4 comments Hello Kim and all others. My name is Scot Hildreth. I grew up reading Harlequin books; in fact they helped form me into the romantic mess I am today.

I cross many genres with my writing, including romance, erotic romance, humorous, and genre fiction. My heart is in romance, and all of my work has a strong romantic element. Erotic Romance, however, pays the bills.

My books range from scorching hot boxers, military men, and outlaw bikers to heart warming young adults and on to tear jerking love stories.

For any interested parties, they can be found here:

I appreciate the invitation, and I am honored to be amongst such a group of romantics.

Brenda Margriet (bmargriet) | 2 comments Hello, everyone - what am eclectic group of women we are, but with that one thing in common - we all love romance!

I've been an avid reader since Dr. Suess books, but my first experience with Harlequins was when a next door neighbour gave me a box of them after his wife passed away. I still vividly remember "Show Me" by Janet Dailey. I now devour Nora Roberts, JR Ward, Jill Shalvis, Jennifer Crusie and any others I can get my hands on!

I achieved a lifelong dream in January 2012 when my first romance was published, followed by my second in August 2014. You can find out more about me at www.brendamargriet.com.

Ann Lethbridge | 8 comments Hi Kim and everyone, great to meet you all. My name is Ann Lethbridge and I live near Toronto in Canada, though I came from Britain originally. We woke up to another dollop of snow this morning and more of the white stuff is expected later today. I've been reading romances as long as I can remember, Georgette Heyer's Bath Tangle was one of the first, and I love historicals and paranormals and everything in between. I love a good HEA. I now write Regencies for Harlequin Mills and Boon. It always gives me a thrill to say that and I love to meet other readers. I am looking forward to Romance Week this coming week.

TashNz | 1 comments Hi everyone, thank you for the invite :) My name is Tash. I'm from beautiful Auckland, New Zealand. I avidly read Harlequins (or Mills and Boon as it's know as my side of the world). I'm a huge fan of the M&B Sexy line / Harlequin Presents. I absolutely love linked books such as Abby Green subtly does or series books. I've been reading as long as I can remember, I'm so glad I grew up in a world with no technology such as the kids have now because I have many brilliant memories of how books swept me away. I am also fortunate enough to be on the Romance Book Haven review team, so that's alot of fun and I've read many lines that I wouldnt normally read as a result and I've been introduced to many amazing authors. Looking forward to reading everyone elses "hi my name is"... xx

Welcome to all the new members! It is great to meet you all. I hope to see you here during the next week. We've had over 50 authors say they would definitely be stopping in to say hi.

I do apologize for not be as active in here the past couple of days. It has been a very emotional weekend for me. I've been to two funerals, none for a family member but both for friends that I've known since the 80s. I've been relying on my romance books to help me escape my thoughts. Thank goodness Romance Week is about to start so I can be surrounded by HEAs.

And I read A LOT of romantic fiction from the UK, US, Australia, Canada ... I love romantic suspense authors such as Linda Howard and Suzanne Brockmann, also chick lit authors like Carole Matthews and Jill Mansell. I've devoured everything by Jill Shalvis and Jennifer Cruisie and don't care whether I read on paper or screen. I just read.

message 86: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (sisimka) Hi, I'm Kelly Jensen and I write for Carina Press.

I read anything and everything. Contemporary romance and historicals are my go to when I want a love story. I also love what's happening with male-male and LGBT fiction and romance. There are so many ways to write about love.

I also read a lot of science fiction, fantasy, history and the odd thriller. The only thing I don't really read is horror.

My first book with Carina is due out on March 2 and I'm counting the days. It's called Chaos Station and is co-written with my partner in crime, Jenn Burke. Chaos Station is the first of a five book series that blends science fiction and romance (m/m). I'm thrilled that Carina and Harlequin support such diverse books.

Brenda Novak | 4 comments Hello everyone! I'm Brenda Novak. I'm about to celebrate the publication of my 50th book--all but four of those with Harlequin. I'm currently writing a small-town contemporary series for MIRA Books (the Whiskey Creek series) and am looking forward to THIS HEART OF MINE being released on March 31st (be sure to enter the giveaway for a free copy of the book here on Goodreads, as Harlequin will be giving away ten). I never dreamed I'd be a writer, but I caught my daycare provider drugging my kids with cough syrup to get them to sleep all day while I worked--so I quit my job, determined to do something from home. I was reading a great book at the time, and I remember thinking, "I wonder if I can do this!" And here I am 20 years later!

Jenn (jeralibu) | 4 comments Hi everyone! I'm Jenn Burke and I write for Carina Press. My co-writer, Kelly Jensen, already posted above. Our debut Carina Press novel, Chaos Station, will be out in less than a month, and we're really excited about it.

I think the first romances I read were in the old Silhouette Shadows line. Anyone remember those? I loved them and they introduced me to the genre of paranormal romance—which I adore. I also read science-fiction romance and contemporary romance, and romantic suspense is a favourite, too! So...that pretty much covers all romance, right?

In recent years, I've become a huge fan of LGBTQ romance and the diversity it offers. Love is love, and it's fantastic that Carina Press and Harlequin support that ideal.

Reading was my favorite thing to do as a kid, and I knew early on that to be a writer was my #1 dream. Leigh Duncan (leighduncan) Hey everyone! I'm Leigh Duncan, and I write for Harlequin American Romance where we love, love, love babies and cowboys. Not necessarily in that order. :) I was lucky enough to marry the love of my life (and stubborn enough to make it through the tough times) and have two grown children. People always say you should write what you know, and since I've spent most of my life in sunny Florida, that's been the setting for all of my books...so far. Looking forward to chatting with everyone this week!
