Book involving a wreck, character named travis in hospital, 2 or more story lines, older couple

I can't remember very much about this book. I belive it was something free from Kindle or Nook around 2017. I was definitely reading it on one of those devices but when i go back in my history cant find it.
I remember a small town, a nosy cop, maybe a wreck on a dirt road involving teens. I think someone died, another kid possibly named Travis ended up hospitalized. There was a survivor, maybe the brother of Travis?
I think the surviving kid ends up doing some work around the house for an older lady whos husband maybe disapproves. Any help is appreciated
