fantasy alt dimension, chars lose inn, cook pizza as bread with cheese

Read this book/series about 5 years ago, and can't remember much beyond that is was pleasant, and the main characters lose an Inn due to local politics of the ruler, move to a different area with a group of (gypsies?) and start a new one. I think there are cross-dimensional travelers from Earth involved, as someone invents "bread with melted cheese" (pizza) and it becomes wildly popular...
