YA/ Children's Sci-Fi. Humans are leaving Earth in a cryo status spaceship. Human boy has a dream of alien girl. Alien girl has special abilities and can jump/ dream hop into other's dreams. Purple. Read around 1998-2000.

I saw this book in my UK high School Library so it would have been published before 2002. I read the blurb and the first chapter and haven't stopped thinking about it since!
I think the boy in the story was possibly the son of the captain of the ship. They are leaving earth due to not being able to live there anymore. He is placed into his cryo pod and dreams of the girl. He is on her planet in the dream while they talk to each other.
The alien girl is found by her mother whilst "dream hopping" and is sent to live with someone else who can help her control her abilities.
Whenever I think of the book I remember the colour purple, so I'm not sure if the aliens or their planet was purple or if the cover had a lot of purple on it.
