Considering it was literally an international sensation, and the most read series EVER on Wattpadd with over 1 billion views before even being published, with over 30 million copies now in print just in the US, and the movie opening # 1 in 17 countries and going on to become one of the highest-grossing independent films of 2019... I think it has worth to a lot of people. Also the movie has suuuuch a beautiful soundtrack guys.

And if you're talking about The Selection movie in production...
Why are you even in this group when you clearly rated the book 1 star lol..

No one likes all of the same books, which is why there are literally a million different ones out there. I don't support book shaming because a book might be really lame for you, but be beautiful to someone else. To each their own.

Also LOL The Selection is literally like the bachelor, and has it not been made clear that people love reality romance shows. 🤣 It's not my favorite book series, but I will definitely check out the movie lol. Okay, back to listening to the After soundtrack on repeat 🤣

Merry Christmas Eve! I totally get why people don't like it, and I don't have a problem with romance. My problem with this series is the horribly persistent stereotypes and the lack of consent.

I'm not talking about the movies at this point. What I mean by consent is America getting asked if she's okay with being hugged, kissed, ect.. When Maxon just randomly decided to kiss her, not only was she not expecting it, but there was literally no way that he could have know if she would have been okay with it. There are tons of other examples of non consensual touches in these book which is super ironic considering the author decided to address rape... but then again, the way she did it was definitely pretty messed up as well, seeing as she explained the man's actions by saying, "I'm not sure they have very many women with them, if you catch my meaning." Umm... what? Just because someone doesn't have a significant other doesn't mean that they get to go around raping people.

I think I missed all of that as well, so I suppose if I reread it I'll have to pay more attention. I wasn't a major fan because I saw it was listed under "dystopian" but didn't have anything I like in a dystopian. And I wasn't preparing for it to be like the batchelor, lol! I think if I had known what I was getting into I would enjoyed it far better 😂
