Macey Camp Yea I think it was meant to be written like a younger kid wrote it, I didn’t like that part but the plot kept me going and it has such a plot twist at the end!

message 1152: by Holly (new) - added it

Holly Oh good! What do you plan to read next? I'm not really reading anything super interesting currently, because I really wanted something light. It's Faries and the Quest for Never Land. It's kind of cute, if a bit boring. Though I'm not exactly it's target audience, so I can't fault it for that, lol!

message 1153: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp Lol! I think I’m going to start snow like ashes since none of my tbr books are with me

message 1154: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick Omg sorry Macey lol! I honestly kept meaning to reply to your last message, but I wanted to do it on my computer because the app can be weird sometimes and I kept forgetting to do it when I was actually on my computer. 😂 SO YES THERE'S MORE IN STORE FOR ACOTAR AHH. The novella ACOFAS was supposed to bridge the first 3 books with the coming books! So it was setting things up for us! The next book fondly called "The Nessian book" because it will focus on Cassian and Nessian comes out in JAN 2021 AHHHH. They just released the title and date recently and everyone's been freaking out to finally have a date for the next book!!!!! It's called A Court of Silver Flames and everyone is equally as annoyed about her breaking the title pattern and we'll all be accidently called it ACOSAF instead of ACOSF for probably forever lolol. But I can't wait and I'm so excited for it!!

message 1155: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick And I'm kind of reading The Crowns of Croswald right now, but I've just been so busy that I haven't really had time to actually read it. So it's just waiting for me lol

message 1156: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp I know!! I can’t wait but I’m still nervous about the pov I mean mostly because I like feysand smut... don’t judge me 😂 but anyway I hope y’all been doing good!

message 1157: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick Who doesn't love Feysand smut?!?!? That's what I live for lolol! 😂😂😂 I'm really excited though because I know Sarah is a master at character development, and I'm sure this one is going to be full of that. It always leads to great plot developments and romance. Plus, I'm sure we'll still get some Feysand and the other Inner Circle characters, just not as the main focus. I'm just excited to be back in that world. :) And I hope you're good too, Macey!

message 1158: by Holly (new) - added it

Holly Welcome back, Taylor! How have you been? And oohh, I've always thought Snow Like Ashes looked interesting, so you'll have to let us know what you think, Macey!

message 1159: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp I’ll actually be reading rise and ruin but I’ll be reading snow like ashes soon! And you’re right taylor! I wonder what sarah Maas has in store for us!

message 1160: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick I just need to know WHAT WAS IN THE BOX!? 😂😂 I feel like January is going to come really fast though so I'm excited! I can't wait! :)
And thanks, Holly! I've been really busy and tired, but good. How about you? I can't believe it's already almost August. My birthday was the 18th, and my sister's is the 30th, and it's so close now haha. And then August! I can't wait for Fall, I'm starting to get so excited for the cooler weather and layers and colors and all the fall activities. 😍

message 1161: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp Omg I totally forgot about the box! 😱 and happy bdayyyy since I’ll most likely forget don’t take it personal sometimes I forget my sisters bday 😂 BUT GAHHH IM NOT READY FOR THE COLD!! I’m a spring baby through and through lol!

message 1162: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick Hahaha no worries, I can only remember my most immediate family's birthdays and then everyone else I'm thankful for being able to check on Facebook 😂😂😅 And thank you! And ooo how fun! Spring after winter is always so nice because everything feels so alive again! Spring the last few years I've really reallly loved. But nothing beats Fall into Winter for me. It makes me feel so happy and alive. 🤗🤗🥰🥰🥰🍁🍁🍁❄❄❄ All that holiday build up and cool weather.

message 1163: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp Unless you live in Arkansas where sometimes it’s 80° in December

message 1164: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick Lol yeah I need to live where I get a true 4 seasons, I lived in Arizona for awhile though and although I love it there, I need cold winters lol. It sounds like that's perfect for you though since you love spring and warmth haha!

message 1165: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp Arizona sounds fun! And ikr like it can be 105 outside and I wouldn’t mind one bit!

message 1166: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick You'd love Arizona then lol! And you have the great benefit of super low/no humidity there lol

message 1167: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp Oh that’s paradise sign me upppp

message 1168: by Holly (new) - added it

Holly Happy Birthday, Taylor! Lol Facebook is a life saver when it comes to birthdays 😂 I mean, I try to keep the dates in my calendar, but sometimes it's better if Facebook just reminds me. 😅 And I'm doing well! Not juggling things I'm supposed to do well, but otherwise I'm fine! 😂
Lol Macey maybe you should consider Arizona! It sounds like it'd match you wonderfully 😁 For me I'd love some more spring and fall to balance out the summer and winter seasons. I like the transitions soo much 😍

message 1169: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp Arizona here I come!! 🏃‍♀️

message 1170: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick Thanks, Holly!!! And it really is, I would need to write them all down in a notebook if there wasn't Facebook lol. And yess I love the transitions to each season too!!! I love the constant change, not too fast, but not too slow. There's enough time which each season where you're like "okay I'm ready for the next one", and excited when it starts to change.

message 1171: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp Y’all I just finished ruin and rising by Leigh Bardugo! I officially read all of the books in the Grisha verse!

message 1172: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick Ohhh did you not read the Shadow & Bone trilogy before SoC and went back and read them lol? That's so fun though!! 😍🎉😄 Have you read The Lives of Saints too?

message 1173: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp This is the order I read them: shadow and bone, six of crows, crooked kingdom, king of scars, seige and Storm, and ruin and rising 😂. And no I haven’t! Is it in the same world?

message 1174: by Holly (new) - added it

Holly Well congrats, Macey! 😁

message 1175: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp Thank you and happy August 1! I wish we could post pictures so I can show my tbr for the month :/ 😂

message 1176: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick What 😂😅😅 I love how you started the prequel series to read it beforehand like you're supposed to but then only read book 1 and skipped the rest of the trilogy until after 😂 And yeah but I just realized it doesn't come out until October, so 2-3 months to go!

message 1177: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp I didn’t know they were connected at all 😂 my bad

message 1178: by Holly (new) - added it

Holly I didn't know they were connected either... Lol! Do you have a ton of books on your tbr?

message 1179: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp Lol yea! I do try reading at least 5 of them a month. Just finished one of us is lying and started on the diviner’s but I don’t know how I feel about it. I’m reading clockwork prince next

message 1180: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick Yeah, the Shadow & Bone trilogy is a prequel to Six of Crows, all in the same Grishaverse. People always say to make sure to read S&B first so you understand the world and stuff. But lol Macey you even mentioned to me to make sure to read S&B first didn't you? So I thought you knew. Did you realize after you had already started SoC, but didn't want to pause and go back lol? I haven't started them yet but def will get to them eventually! Really enjoying The Crowns of Croswald right now!! It's similar to HP in that there's a magic school and magic shops and stuff, but so unique. And imagine if all of the magically blessed were Ravenclaws. Because knowledge and the discovery of new magical things is so important in it! I love it. It's really fun and original.

message 1181: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp Actually it doesn’t really matter if you read s&b or SOC first, like soc doesn’t spoil anything. I realized as I was reading King of Scars that I should have read s&b trilogy first 😂. And I hope you enjoy the book, I’m not one for HP though

message 1182: by Holly (new) - added it

Holly The Crowns of Croswald sounds super interesting put that way! And lol I always end up forgetting the order you're supposed to read the Grishaverse stuff in, even though I keep getting told... The order won't mess you up, though? That would make things a lot easier on me when I get around to reading it all. 😂

message 1183: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp King of scars like has the same characters as s&b so it spoils that trilogy you can read soc in whatever order you like to the others

message 1184: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick People always say to read them in order though because chronologically they go in order. SoC is soo good and loved though that I know a lot of people want to skip S&B to start them right away. But I'm going to read them in order, and I'm really looking forward to S&B itself anyways. Plus I know there's some things you're supposed to understand better if you've already read s&b and I'd rather not skip around. 😂 I would try to read them in order Holly if you're planning to read them all anyways lol. And it's very different from HP, that was just my best comparison, but it's really unique to itself. Do you not like magic school settings? I love the language itself of the book, too. Those with magic are called "scrivinests", or that's what they're called after they graduate. They're highly regarded and are given a royal family/castle to be the scrivinest of. There's a lot of mystery in the book too which is really fun. I think you'd like it Holly!

message 1185: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick Btw happy Monday lol hopefully you guys have easy days today

message 1186: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp I don’t really read magic school setting but I really hate hp 😂 and yea it’s always best to read in order

message 1187: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp And thank you!

message 1188: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick That's fair, not everyone likes the same stories haha. Fantasy is my favorite genre so I love them though, and like who wouldn't want to go an actual magic school (a dream right there! 😂) So I really enjoy them because the idea is so exciting.
Holly, if you like stories like that, there's also 'The School for Good and Evil' series. It's an "enchanted institution where children are trained to become fairytale heroes or villains, respectively." It trains them to take their part in fairytales. Which is a cool concept. In it two bestfriends are dropped into separate schools, good and evil, and opposite to what their personalities (and appearances) would have suggested. So the 'mistake' might be the first step in discovering who they really are. And I really like the idea of how certain people are brought to this school just to be trained to be ready for their fairytale. It's middle school, not that that's bad (Percy Jackson is aaaaamazing middle school fantasy lol). I haven't read them yet, but I have the first 2 I think. They should be an easy and fun read. What are your favorite genres or types of books, Macey?

message 1189: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp Fantasy, especially enemy to lovers or love triangles I love books with those especially 😂

message 1190: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick Oooo interesting! Most people HATE love triangles lol. Have you read The Cruel Prince? That's a big enemies to lovers. One of my favorite tropes is when characters are stuck going on an adventure together, and how that proximity and the things they go through force intimacy as they get to know each other, and they become a couple. Like a lot of times that goes with enemies/just not friends to lovers lol, and the journey they go on makes them see each other differently and get close. "Enemies" to lovers is always so fun because you get a lot of bickering lolol

message 1191: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp Yes I have! Queen of nothing broke my heart bro it was ahhh

message 1192: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick 😂😂 What are some others you like?

message 1193: by May (new) - rated it 4 stars

May Hey! What are you talking about? Love triangles? Like in twilight or Tigers Curse. They have some pretty deep but great ones!

message 1194: by Macey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Macey Camp Like books that are similar to acotar honestly it’s 😘

message 1195: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick I was wondering what other enemies to lovers Macey liked! (And acotar isn't actually a love triangle, but yesssssss you can't not love acotar 😘😘😘) And just any romance tropes really haha enemies to lovers, love triangles, etc. What do you like May? Midnight Sun comes out tomorrow!

message 1196: by May (last edited Aug 03, 2020 10:49AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

May Lately, I have been reading realistic, regency romances. They don't have any love triangles but they have a lot of enemies to lovers, which I think are super cute! But I also really enjoy a good love triangle.

message 1197: by Taylor (new) - rated it 5 stars

Taylor Emerick One of my friends LOVES historical romances, too, it's what she mainly reads. She tears through them so fast haha, but her preference is Scottish ones, lots of Highlander titles. Love triangles can be okay if written well, but most of the time they're painful which is why they aren't the majority of readers' favorite. 😂 Two love interests isn't my favorite either, I just want to know who I'm rooting for and be able to fully invest in them lol!
