Oh, no I hadn't heard anything about a love triangle. I mean, I DO usually dislike love triangles, but that's not what I heard about the book lol! I just heard about some of the things Rhysand apparently does in the series and I feel like they'd hit me wrong. I'll check out Throne of Glass though! Uhhh Fairest...? Oh, a book between books..? Is it necessary...? I don't have access to the audiobook, which is how I've been getting through this series lol. Dude, I think that TBoSaS would have been a ton better if we followed President Show's father. Weirdly enough. 😂 Though if you like things being tied together, you might like it!
Lol yea Rhysand doesn’t come off as a good person at first and then the whole thing is revealed in the second book so PLEASE give it a try I don’t think you’ll regret it!
Omg yeah TRUST US. The interesting thing about Rhysand is just that you don't actually understand him at first so don't trust anything about what you've heard. He's actually the best person in the entire series, and book 2 is literally EVERYTHING. It's one of my favorite books ever, and THE reason the series is so loved haha. You can not go wrong with Rhysand. And Fairest is the novella about Levana, how she became queen and what happened to her, and Winter's childhood. It's best read before Winter because you get that backstory before meeting Winter. I really, really enjoyed it because it was written really well and wasn't a situation where the villain started off good and then something tragic happened that made her turn evil (which always makes me feel bad and like them turning evil was a tragedy). Terrible stuff does happen to her, but it's also really clear that she was ALWAYS twisted and heading for the villain role. It's really good. Very interesting read. In regard to TBoSaS, that's super interesting about Snow's father lol. Now I want to meet him. I wonder if he's good or bad or what haha
ACOMAF IS LIFE lolol. 😂🥰❤️ Best romance story ever, SJM is a master at development. I'm sooooo excited for ACOSF to finally get more story.
I looked at what his reasons were in the second book and I feel like it still wouldn't sit well with me. Maybe one day, but I think for now I'm going to not read ACOTAR. 😬Oh, sorry, didn't mean to imply Fairest wasn't an audiobook! This series is pretty popular so it's not surprising! It just isn't available on my library apps and I discontinued my Audible subscription. (Weirdly enough, I don't think Fairest is even available as a physical book in my library... I'll have to double check though!)
You're gonna have to read TBoSaS and tell me what you think though! Macey, did you ever read The Hunger Games?
Lol! I always did like The Hunger Games series, I was just curious about if you cared at all about the latest book that came out. 😁
If you've only read the first one, that does make sense lol 😁 So then are there any books you're looking forward to reading? I need to listen to Winter by Marissa Meyer but I'm procrastinating. 😬 And I really want to finally finish my Plath poetry book at some point.
I’m currently reading Children of Virtue and vengeance I’m 67% through that book and then I plan on reading Siege and Storm which is the sequel to Shadow and Bone. After that I’m going to read Cresent City by Sarah Maas
Children of Virtue and Vengeance! I got about half way through the audiobook for the first one, but I ended up DNF-ing for the time being. I think I'd like it better physically reading it so I just need to get around to finishing it. 😅 Is Shadow and Bone able to stand alone? I always thought it was a series (I haven't really looked at it, I just had always assumed lol)
Omg nooo you tried to look up spoilers 😭😭😭 That's a crime to all the beautiful writing reveals in acomaf lol. And I don't think you can really understand until you read it. Bad things you think he's done are just misunderstandings. But I do hope you read it one day and enjoy it! 😂❤️ And that's so weird your library doesn't have Fairest since it's such a popular series! I hope you get the chance at some point.OMG MACEYYY lol I was like "you've never heard of the hunger games before!?" 😂😂😂 I've read all of the trilogy and really loved it. Book 2, Catching Fire is both my favorite book and favorite movie of the series! So you've got the best book in the series next! ❤️
That's so funny Holly, both Shadow & Bone and Daughter of Smoke and Bone are on my tbr so that's funny you said that! 😂
Shadow & Bone is a prequel trilogy to the Six of Crows duology. And Daughter of Smoke and Bone is it's own trilogy. I'm really interested in both!
Lol I got confused when she said The Games but yea I heard of it and I’ll be reading the second book next month hopefully. Also be careful when reading the Grisha Verse, although Six of Crows doesn’t really spoil the Shadow and Bone trilogy, King of Scars will. I suggest reading Shadow and Bone trilogy, Six of Crows Duology, and then King of Scars. You know I thought Children of Blood and Bone was an amazing book but for some reason I can barely remember what happened In the book so Children of Virtue and Vengeance is confusing to me lol!
Oh yep I'll be reading them in order, I'm always careful about never skipping books or doing something like that haha. I already own all of the books except for Crooked Kingdom, but that's okay because that gives me all of the S&B trilogy and SoC before I need it haha. I'm pretty excited for The Darkling and then SoC in general lol!Hi May!
Lol Taylor! 😂 I really need to try reading the Shadow and Bone trilogy. Everyone loves the universe so much I just have to.Oh no! Hopefully things clear up, Macey! I'll have to read Children of Virtue and Vengeance soon after I read Children of Blood and Bone then.
So many books to read, so little time! 😂
There's never enough time to read everything you want to read! 😂It's so hard, you have to stay away from news about new books coming out and ones people recommend. 😂😂 Joining bookstagram has killed me TBR lol! What are you reading now Holly, or are you taking a break? I'm taking a break, but I want to read The Crowns of Croswald next.
Well I just finished children of virtue and vengeance and I started siege and Storm today! I’m on chapter 5
Dang, you're moving right through these books, Macey! How was Children of Virtue and Vengeance? And as for my reading...weeeeelll.... I'm not actually TRYING to take a break, I just am procrastinating.... Lol the only audio book I have checked out is Winter, but I procrastinate so hard on long books.... I've been slowly reading The Anniversary by Amy Gutman, but I'm not reading it every day or anything. I just looked at Crowns of Croswald and you just added another list to my never ending TBR lol! 😂
Bahahhaha!! 😜 I have book 1 and 2 and really want to leave reviews for them so I want start them asap. They're suuuuch beautiful books!! They have illustrated chapter title pages and stuff, just really cool magical books.
Children of virtue and vengeance was okay. The first book was waaaay better but I’m excited for the third one! And siege and Storm is just as amazing as shadow and bone. I can’t wait to see the development of Nikolai
Taylor are you talking about the Crown of Croswald books? They have illustrated chapter pages?!?It's a little sad about the second book being not as good as the first, but I still can't wait to read them both! And then wait for the third one to come out lol.
Yesss Holly!!!!!! To be more specific there's a really pretty full 2 page illustration of a quill before the beginning of the prologue, and then illustrations underneath the chapter titles for each chapter. It just makes it all feel a little extra magical. Another book with gooooorgeous pages themselves is Windborn by Mary Fan. I really appreciate when the inside of books are beautiful too, and she always makes them beautiful. Windborn has intricately detailed chapter title pages. I also love her Starswept series, such pretty books in person. And Macey, I just saw you finished HoF. Make sure you read The Assassin's Blade BEFORE starting book 4 Queen of Shadows! It has to be read first because that's when all the info and people from it gets revisited and becomes immediately important. But ahhh then QoS! Which is one of my favorites because that's when the action really picks up and never stops. It's so fun! You're in for a ride haha. Such a fun adventure.
Wait I got overexcited thinking you were reading them for the first time! 🤣🤣🤣 Hahaha your reviews through me off. But yeah, I loved all the books from QoS forward so much where the action really never stopped.
Lol yea I read the whole tog series already and I love it but not as much as I love ACOTAR. I’m sorry my reviews throw you off I tend to wait before reviewing them right away
No hahahah I didn't mean to make you feel bad, I just meant that I saw your review go up and thought you had just finished reading it, but then I saw your Empire of Storms one too and realized you were just adding the reviews in general not because you'd just read them haha. It's funny because I love both series so much, but I read ACOTAR first and was convinced ToG would never surpass it for me. But then it did! In terms of how much more elaborate and complex the plot is. For romance though, nothing will ever beat ACOTAR.
Oh my goodness, I'll have to get my hands on a copy of Crowns of Croswald!! That sounds so lovely... 😍 Lol so many books to read, so little time... 🤣
Lol I actually read TOG first and didn’t know ACOTAR existed until an old friend of mine told me about it. It’s true about the elaborateness of TOG but it’s also longer and ACOTAR is no where finished. I believe Sarah has more in store for us with ACOTAR though! Also I just finished Siege and Storm and I’ll be working on finishing Perks of being a Wallflower next
Lol!! I mean, I guess at least for that time? I'm really not sure how you're supposed to win this thing 🤣
I’ve been alright and I just finished we were liars which the writing looks like a kid did it but it keeps your interest and i just finished sobbing 😭
