Pamk | 34 comments I just finished Followed by the Lark by Helen Humphreys. It's primarily a biography of Henry David Thoreau based on his journals, but his interaction with nature is woven throughout. I've read a number of her other books and enjoyed them, and had read Walden many years ago. Humphreys has a gentle, reflective writing style and l really got a good sense of both the times Thoreau lived in, and the man himself.

Therese Brink | 1 comments I just finished Open Throat by Henry Hoke. The novella is about a cougar that lives in the hills fo Hollywood and its told in the voice of the cougar. I thought it was powerful. The story will remain with me for a very long time.

@therese - I really enjoyed that one too. It was a little offbeat, and a fun read. I read it for the Tournament of Books last year. I also loved North Woods by Daniel Mason from that list. I think it was my favorite book of 2024. I highly recommend it.
