no that was different series but fairly similiar, i didn't branch out much as a kid!

i read these books between 2012-2014 when i was 9-11 cause i think that was roughly the age they were aimed for, and there were possibly up to 5 or 6 books in the series. each book had a picture of a different animal on the cover - one was purple and had a picture of a black and brown dog's face on the front, one was green with a picture of a tabby cat's face on the front and i can't really remember the others - possibly one with a mouse? the main plotline was about a girl who was sent away by her mother - not sure why - to live with her uncle above the pet shop that he owned and she finds out she can talk to animals (i think she later finds out that her mother had this ability when she was younger but forgot about it or dismissed it as her imagination as she got older?) anyway, when she first arrives at the pet shop, she vaguely hears talking i think but doesn't know who it is and then dismisses it but later realizes that it was the mice in the pet shop that were talking. her closest animal companion becomes this dog who is kind of her protector i think? i can't remember if her uncle believes her when she tells him she can speak to animals but i'm pretty sure he does. i can't remember that many specifics but each book there was like a new animal that needs help i think and a mission she needs to accomplish and there was one - i think one of the later books - that was about her hearing about unicorns and she doesn't believe that they're real but her mum saw one when she was younger i think? and i'm pretty sure the main character dies at one point and becomes a ghost and sees her mum and tries to talk to her but her mum can't see or hear her because she's dead? but then she comes back to life i think. yeah i'm not 100% sure on that bit. anyway it's mainly about her being able to talk to and help the animals in this pet shop and the uncle takes in new animals all the time and stuff. hopefully this rings a bell for someone - i've tried looking up the key plot points online but i couldn't find anything i recognised. thanks!
