Adult Thriller. Man (main character) has a colt python (revolver), seduces a woman (i think she was a bad guy) in a hotel and holds her prisoner in his room, but falls in love with her. Starts with an assassination? Read late 1980s/early 1990s.

This is an adult book, had sex scenes in it, the prologue may have had something about a pope or a bishop being assassinated by a guy with a gun in a golf bag(?). the main character for some reason i can't remember is at a hotel and seduced a woman that i was a bad guy so he can get her back to his room and hold her prisoner. she is tied to the bed at some stage and some how the end up in love, or at least in lust... on thing i remember was at some stage he had a Colt Python and there was a comment about not being able to dance with one concealed or it was digging into him while he was having dinner. the cover i think may have had top secret or for eyes only on it. sorry, but that is all i can remember and put into words.

super appreciative for any help in finding this book. it was the first proper novel i remember reading and i'd love to find it again
