Did I say solely? No. But the US is a better assumption than Japan sans other information for a guy named Clyde. It’s tiresome when people don’t provide information, then sneer when you don’t know it with “check your assumptions “ style attitudes. Complaining about the price when libraries DO exist without simply adding a note about why getting the book that way wasn’t going to work is just lazy.

I just looked at books Ray Porter narrates in the library app and I see a lot of military non-fiction, technothrillers (Jonathan Maberry) and thrillers. A couple outliers such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Nightmare at 20,000 Feet. Sounds like mostly manly-men stuff.
Rob wrote: "He does the Bobiverse books too."I thought I recognized the voice - he is doing a great job storytelling The Fold.
The person telling the story makes such a difference, they can literally make or break a story - the one audiobook I have returned was because the narration was just plain awful.
I was initially tempted to skip this pick, but I’ve skipped/DNF’ed several recent picks and it sounds interesting, so I’ve used an audible credit to pick up the audiobook. Need to finish the audiobook of Rhythm of War before I can start listening though... fingers crossed I can get to it before the end of February... only forty hours to go!
By the way, I'm leaving the book picks entirely up to the guest hosts. if they give me options I can try to steer them toward fantasy but I really do want them to feel free to pick from their own perspective.

Yeah. I think we all figured that. Maybe you just have too many Sci-Fi friends and not enough fantasy friends. :-D

There is definitely some kind of selection bias at work. I also assume all of you are imaginary. Of course.
I just placed a request through the local library system. This will be my first time participating in the many years I have been lurking.

He can be your Sci-Fi friend, because Wanda is definitely my fantasy

*ting ting*

Not sure. I decided this year to read more. I used to read sci-fi and fantasy constantly especially when I was younger. Also, the book seems to be available at my local library.
Cecilia wrote: "Also, the book seems to be available at my local library."Yep. Sometimes the best kind of ability is availability. I got this one with no wait at my library too. It seems to be in the sweet spot after it's first rush of popularity, but recently published enough to be widely available.

I really liked 14. I bought The Fold from Audible a couple years ago I think when it was on sale. I started listening to it & got very excited when I found out Ray Porter was reading it! I also enjoyed Ex-Heroes & am planning to listen to all of those as well. I'm trying to finish Harrow the Ninth & Ready Player Two from Libby before The Fold.

I don't have the book yet but I did put a hold a copy and hope it becomes available in time.
I finished the book this morning and returned the e-book to the LA County System so somebody else can grab it. FYI I really liked it and gave it 4 stars.

Did they explain what acronym stands for?

I don’t think they ever did. IMT was Instant Matter Transfer (or transport?), but I don’t recall SETH.
I did find an online reference: “SETH - Simulation Equipment Test Hardware”, but that doesn’t track with the book.

I was kind of on the fence about this pick, but I've skipped a bunch of club picks and have a lot of audible credits atm. Seeing it was narrated by Ray Porter put me over the top.
I forget what else he's narrated that I liked, but the fact that I remember his name is a good sign.
