I'm pretty sure the title of the book was "Little Monsters", but it could easily be something with a similar name. The cover has a boy and a blue monster standing in a swamp, or barren landscape? (*I do not think the book is related to the movie with Fred Savage, the plot is much different.) It is a chapter book, and I read it in the mid 2000's - but it could easily be from the 90's.
The plot is about a boy who finds himself in a mansion, maybe owned by a neighbor, or grandmother? And finds a handful of small, shrunken monsters. They tell him that they were shrunk, and need help, and he carries them around in his hand. Eventually they end up in some sort of "Monster Dimension", or something like that. I do not remember much after that.
Googling has been rough, because I mostly find stuff about the Fred Savage movie and novelizations, and a YA novel that is more recent of the same name. Any help would be very helpful!
