YA Fantasy. A boy working at his family's pig farm is visited by a wizard and finds out he's The Chosen One and goes to save the world. Read around 2009-2011 (older book?).

I read this maybe around 2009-2011. It seemed older though, maybe early 2000s or even '90s. The kid first up did not want to go with the wizard and just wanted to watch his pigs. I remember one scene where firstly, the wizard teaches him some magic and he shoots off some magic, but it goes flying. Then, later, they're being held hostage and at just the right time, the magic came around the world and hit the guard or someone and was able to set them free. It had just been going around the world and hadn't hit anything.
