What other challenges are you doing now Nikk? I have one more group challenge starting next week, but I'm trying to keep to 2-3 at once.

message 103: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1245 comments 10 hours to start time. :D My first book is going to be No Nest for the Wicket - it will work for Card 9. Then I will read my coloured covers. I usually get up at 3 a.m. (our start time) but tomorrow is one of my few sleep-in days. We'll see if I can actually sleep in. Hope everyone is having a good night (or day) and I'll talk to you all tomorrow. Let's go Team Roger!

Allison Ann | 1245 comments Sure enough, this sleeping in thing didn't go very well. So I'm going to read for a bit and then try for a little more sleep before I have to drive to town. Hope everyone has a great first day/night of reading.

And.....................go!

I'd forgotten we could use more characters than the MCs

I tried to access the spreadsheet but I have view only.

Should I have access so I can add all the characters my self?

You can get access to our tracking spreadsheet and enter your own info. Go here and request access and Nikk will sign you up.

The main spreadsheet will always be view only to everyone who isn't a captain.

Allison Ann | 1245 comments Afternoon team. How did your first day of reading go? I'm currently reading Magpie Murders, it's very odd. I'm not sure where the story is going, but I'm looking forward to finding out. It has pretty consistently good reviews, which bodes well.

In non-book news, yesterday I did my monthly shop, so today I repackage and prep all that food. It's about the only day I have the TV on for background noise. Usually Food Network, it seems appropriate. :D

What is everyone doing this lovely Tuesday/Wednesday?

Celia (cealcrest) Does anyone know if and where The Perks of Being a Book Addict group has a general book requirements post for its games? I'm making a spreadsheet of all my book clubs requirements so I can keep them straight. I'll make the sheet public in a bit if anyone is interested.

Sorry Celia, UNO is the only game I play on Perks, so I'm not sure if the requirements for this game are universal for the group. These are the rules for UNO though.

5. Books must be more than 100 pages in length and Children's books, Graphic Novels, Manga, Cook Books, Plays and Poetry books can not be used unless by word count they can be verified as more than 25,000 words using arbookfind.com or more than 3 hours of audio using a reputable website (e.g. audible, overdrive). Children's books checked in previous years can be seen on this shelf uno-childrens

Allison Ann | 1245 comments For those of you who like to keep track of things, I update our cards in message 8 on the first page.

There is also a Current Points Sheet that you can check out. It's not very accurate until the end of each month, because not every team updates daily, but it's still something to look at.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Allison Ann | 1245 comments Awesome, thanks Lindsay. 5 stars eh? Guess I should put it on my TBR. :D

You haven't quite got all the characters right though. The title, name, etc. have to start with the card letter. So Nezha doesn't work for 0, but it will for 9. And Rebecca and Rin can't work for anything. And there can only be one location used, and it must be the main one. Otherwise, looks good.

Just double checking, no one else has read this yet have they?

message 121: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1245 comments BTW, everyone. Please don't use columns F, G and H in the tracking spreadsheet. Those are for the captains to keep track of what we have finalized. Thanks very much.

message 122: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1245 comments Morning team. I had a lovely evening of reading last night. I'm really enjoying Magpie Murders. Very classic but I know there are twists coming up. :D I also started The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo because the library wants it back. :D Odd book, but gripping. So I'm doing well on reading so far this month. Hope you are all too.

Celia (cealcrest) I finally finished Les Mis that I started back in December, so now my reading attention won't be divided. Planning to get some serious reading done this week!

I like to get a real tome in about once a year. What was the last 1000+ page book you all read?

Congratulations Celia. That's quite a book to finish up. I read Les Mis back in university, in French. Perhaps someday I'll read the translation, see how it compares to what I remember.

The last 1000+ book I would have read would have been back in Tower Teams, late 2019. That challenge gives extra points for longer books, so I read a bunch of James A. Michener, Edward Rutherfurd and the first part of The Wandering Inn: Volume 1. Not great literature any of it, but enjoyable. :D

message 148: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1245 comments Just getting all our books caught up and then I'll post an update for how we are doing. First week done and dusted. How does everyone feel about their reading? Enjoying the challenge? Yesterday was crazy busy for me, so when I'm done my updates I am going to sit in my chair and just read for a couple of hours. Brutally cold out today, so I may do nothing else. :D

I think my last big book was also Les Misérables! I finished it November last year.
