Brie | 3 comments This was a book that my mom read to me in the late 90s, but I think it is was already an older book since she bought it secondhand and it was pretty beat up.

It wasn't really a children's book in that an adult would have to read it to a child, but it did have some black and white pictures throughout and the moral was for kids.

The book is about a group of anthropomorphic animals, and I think the main character was a goat or billygoat that wore a scarf and had a boat? The animals are all hungry, so they send various animals to try to ask the king (a lion) on an island if they can eat this one fruit. But each animal fails or can't remmeber and the lion grows increasingly frustrated with each animal in turn until I think the goat succeeds?

Desperately trying to figure out the name or author since we've lost our family copy. thanks to anyone who can point me the right direction

The animals are hungry until they find a tree, but they cannot identify the fruit. One by one, the rat, pig, and goat are sent to the king lion to ask him what it is, (view spoiler)
