Another Faust by Daniel and Dina Nayeri? Looks like it was first published in 2009 so I hope that's not too late to be your book, but from the reviews it sounds like it might be the one.
Book is about a groups of kids who live with a demon(?). One girl wished to be beautiful - wish granted but she smells like vomit. Another character named Biche was able to stop time but she kept aging while time was stopped. She was very shy and would “hide” in her time loops. She used the extra time to learn every language ever in order to speak the “original language” which helps her defeat the demon. I think there were also two boys in the story. I think the title had something about Faust in it.
