Laura | 4 comments Read this book in a class in 2012/2013. I was around 10 or 11 when we read the book in class. It had alot of UK history in it I think but all I can remember is the part about the Great London fire. It mentioned information about the bakery down pudding lane. I really hope I'm not mixing things up with another book but I think the dustbin was writing letters to someone too. I have a clear image of the dustin: silver standing with two feminine, slender legs. I am certain that the book had the words bin or trash in the title.

Laura | 4 comments and easier way of describing this character is she was a hybrid between dustbin and human. I'm also fairly sure she was time traveling.

Jon Duckworth | 171 comments Hi Laura, this sounds pretty weird even for a children's book :)

But I'd like to ask something: does the character just have the appearance of a dustbin or does she have the functionality of a dustbin? Is it essentially part of a disguise? Is the fact that she looks like a dustbin relevant to the story in some way (as far as you can recall)?

Laura, can you think of other places and times she visited? How did she time travel? Does she work for a special agency or company?

Laura | 4 comments Jon, the dustbin is essentially part of a disguise and yeah i'm not sure it was a children's book maybe it was a young adults novel. As far as I can recall it was a good disguise because if anyone was passing she could tuck her legs under and nobody would know that she's not an ordinary dustbin
