Just finished Chapter 2 and I'm really enjoying it so far! Anyone else started on or already finished Becoming?

I am on Chapter 5 and am loving it so far. Love this quote from the book...SPOILER: “the apparatus of privilege and connection, what seemed like a network of half-hidden ladders and guide ropes that lay suspended overhead, ready to connect some but not all of us to the sky.” Wow! What a great and eye opening description.

SPOLIERS- Chapter 12



Okay, I'm in a bit of shock right now. My husband bought a car without my knowledge right after we were married and I was LIVID!! I'm talking completely convinced our marriage was doomed to fail because he didn't talk to me about a CAR!

So how was she so cool about him coming home and informing her he and his mom had planned his 2 month solo trip to another COUNTRY without talking to her first??? I pray to have that much patience, kindness, and grace one day!

Just read the preface and I'm excited to move forward (I'll read y'all's comments when I get to the chapters!) I'd be curious to know how much of the writing she did or if she has help, etc. I enjoy the way it's written. Very thoughtful.

Soooo not gonna finish in January obviously lol, but I should have this one complete by the end of this week. I've been really surprised by it. There's a lot of things that I have related to Michelle on and I didn't think that would be the case (probably because I didn't know much about her background). She will mention something and I find myself nodding like "Yep. That's exactly how it is". I just finished the chapter where her and barack get married (the proposal was cute and funny). I'm really excited to read the next part!

I cracked up at the proposal!!! I had to read it to Lex because I just needed someone else to laugh with me LOL

I finished it y'all. I wanted to cry so much at the end. I don't even know why at this point. I was very moved by it and uplifted in the end. It has definitely encouraged me to think more about the future and the impact I can have on others. I honestly just want to find Michelle Obama and hug her.
