Autumn (autumnmemory80) I have had to step out for a bit due to not having a laptop. It went down due to a nasty virus, and I have been using my little ol tablet. There is limited things for me to do on it, and it is just not easy. Luckily, I can get on at work, but I miss all the notifications here and cannot see when people reply. I hope to get all this fixed soon! I have missed all of you!

Oh OK, I promise to chat more

Let me guess, Amber. The virus loads itself daily into your task bar. Hackers anyway. Am I right?

Sirena | 101 comments It has been a tough few months for me. My anxiety was really bad during the spring and summer. My aunt passed away in September and now I have arthritis -- which I can really feel now that LA is finally getting some rain.

I miss all our regular members, and I hope we all stay healthy and happy.

It is great that not only are we a book club, but we are a group of friendly people , supporting each other.

message 80: by Amber (new)

Amber Foxx (amberfoxx) I've been AWOL from this group for ages. It's so big and busy I get overwhelmed with the number of messages and topics and end up just reading some but not responding. And I've been busy with work. I assigned all those papers I have to grade, though, so I don't suppose I should complain. :)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments BTW I so envy you - I love snow and we rerely see any :-( but this winter the forecast is great and I hope they are right we should get snow even in our big city (with warm city micro climate) :-):-)):-))):-))))))

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments I love snow but my body hates the cold which is really bad - we somehow can never seem to agree :-)

And I know those heavy snow winters back from my school time in Black Forest - I really loved them :-)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments Aaron(Retroblast) wrote: "You and me both. It's been freezing here the last week or so. My balls turned blue and my nose turned red. LOL"

Here it's only raining all the time :-( so instead of goinig into the city to download all my stuff (my WiFi is down at home) I'm updating the GR library :-) that's much more fun and so cozy

message 87: by Agnieszka (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments Lucky me most of my PC internet works on LAN - I need WiFi for my iPad only - but I can't download any library books or freebies I 'buy' each day - the only good think about severe depression and long time sick leave - you have plenty time to browse all the daily deals :-)
Fortunately I have no trouble with rainy weather - on contrary often get more trouble with sunny days (migraine)

How many cats do you have? I loved most the one of your son in the kitchen and of course the snowy picture :-)

message 89: by Agnieszka (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments Here in Germany you get 25 hours for therapy (usually with an average therapist if you are lucky and than have to wait two years to get another therapy aproved. After that you get onto a waiting list - the better the therapist the longer the wait (something between 3-6 months a standard for the really good ones up to two years or only private care patient/cash) My two years are almost over - so I'll get my first appointment sometime in spring or summer.

I haven't seen that much snow since at least five years - lucky you :-)

Which of the cats a the current: the grey (Oscar) and the black and white (Dixi)?

Technology was always easy for my - it had to be for something good all the hours I spend with my father first repairing or building all possible things later on his first computer (Atari) and all that kind of stuff :-)

Diane Lynch (dianedesmarrstlynch) | 306 comments Hello Aaron(Retroblast) and Agnieszka. Diane from America- Long Island, NY. That's the part of NY that sticks out into the Atlantic. Sending prayers to both of you. I'm permanently disabled. Numerous things. MS and Spinal Disease biggest reasons for disability.

Aaron(Retroblast) Stripper! Way to passively mention that. What a job that must have been. Glad you found something to do now. I struggled with major depression also. Good therapist makes all the difference.

Agnieszka my mother in law is from Mannheim. She loves the Black Forest. Socialized medicine only works for people who don't actually need care. People come to Anerica to pay cash for the care that they need NOW and cannot get.

Thanks to Goodreads we have people from everywhere with common interests to share with. I always try to remember that my next breathe is someone else's last breathe. Every day is a gift. Cherish it. A long time coming to this frame of mind.

I'll pray for you too - since I had a friend down in the south with MS before I moved and lost contact I have a slight idea about what you have to deal with.

Mannheim is a nice area too - especially the old city - but a pain in the nack for foreigner to drive there since they use coordinates instead of street names and as far as I know there is no navigation system able to deal with this issue yet :-)

message 93: by Diane Lynch (new)

Diane Lynch (dianedesmarrstlynch) | 306 comments Agnieszka I've never been there and didn't know that. My husband said he never knew about that. Here on google maps if we put in an address it goes there. My husband spent every summer there growing up. My in laws still go occasionally.

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments In the limits of the old times city they have still streets but everything built later (I think after WW2) looks like G2 24 or similar and there G2 are your street coordinates and 24 the house number have fun looking it up especially if it can happen that some parts of the numbering is somewhere where you wouldn't expect it - So everyone says I explain you how to get here and forget the navi :-)

Tea Time with Marce (teatimewithmarce) | 77 comments Hello fellow Good Thriller readers....... I have missed you all and the amazing recommendations.

I have been thinking over the last 2 weeks and I'm considering giving up my Book Club in real life. I haven't read a great book all year and it is due to the club I joined, bad mistake. I started lurking again here this week and trying to get a feel again.

Life has been hectic but reading amazing thrillers was a great part of life that I want back. Slowly going to get back.

Marce
