Married to Her Highland Enemy by Lydia Kendall Married to her Highland Enemy: A Steamy Scottish Historical Romance Novel by Lydia Kendell on Kindle ARC
Margot McCann's brother, Andrew, and heir to the Clan has been killed and now she is forced to find a husband to be named Laird. Man-at-arms to the late Laird, Zak Wilson has been appointed to protect Margot and to find her a suitable husband and new Laird. Margot wants nothing to do with Zak from the way he always treated her growing up. Although every time a suitor comes to call, Zak finds something wrong with them and sends them on their way. Margot doesn't realize that Zak's feelings for her have changed since they have grown up. This book had a wonderful storyline and it was exciting, spicy romantic, and suspenseful. I really enjoyed it except the spicy sex scenes got to be too much and boring after a while. I found myself skipping through them after a while.

Welcome To Parkview by Brian Paone Welcome To Parkview by Brian Paone on Laptop
This was the most wild, unnerving, strange book I have ever read. There are many short stories all dealing with a little town of Parkview. So many flips and spirals coming from each of them unitl the very last line in the whole book. I was confused and frustruated at times. I was sad and laughing at times. This is very warped, evil, violent and sexy. A good Halloween read. Just realize that you will be on a rollercoaster ride from hell throughout the whole book. I really went out my box for this one. This is definelty an "Adult" read only.

The Obscure Duchess of Godwin Hall by Hanna Hamilton The Obscure Duchess of Godwin Hall by Hanna Hamilton on Kindle ARC
Rebecca has found herself in an arranged marriage to the brother of the man she really loves. Although she has known both brothers since she was a child, Andrew has always held her heart and the two are so compatible. Charles is the next in line for Duchdom but only wants prestige. Caroline is like a sister to Rebecca. Caroline is her companion and best comfiadant. When Charles is murdered, Rebecca is pointed to the one who did it. Yet, Andrew is the one thrown into jail and accused by his long lost uncle who would love to be the next Duke. So many twists and turns in this story. Much suspense and mystery. I gave it a much lesser review as I was not able in any way to get the extended epilogue. I feel if an author wants an honest review, the extended epilogues should be accessible.

This is ususally not my reading genre that I read, but it sounded like a great Halloween story. I was not disappointed. It was filled with suspense, mystery, ghosts and demons. Also added a bit of romance. I am eager now to read the rest of the series. Excellent beginning book for a series.

Charity Falls for the Rejected Duke by Hanna Hamilton Charity Falls for the Rejected Duke by Hanna Hamilton on Kindle. ARC
Adam the son of the Duke of Mornington has returned after his father banished him over a year ago, believing him to have murdered a young woman and her son. The Duke has taken ill and still refuses his son. Adam is now back to try and reconcile with his ill father and to prove he was not the murderer. Charity is the daughter of vicar and has known Adam since they were children. Although she knows Adam is not a murderer, she knows her father would never let them be more than friends. Charity's best friend Esther plays an important role in the story. Adam and Charity's relationship becomes stronger and they find together how the pieces of this puzzle is coming together. I was astonished at the ending of this book. What a great ending to the suspense and mystery. I found it dragging at times, but still a wonderful story.

The Scandalous Deal of the Scarred Lady by Hanna Hamilton The Scandalous Deal of the Scarred Lady by Hanna Hamilton on Kindle. ARC
Lady Helena Barrington has a skin condition with rash and blisters that keeps her locked up in her home. One evening she finds a woman outside in a terrible blizzard. Knowing she is not to engage with others, she still has the woman brought it for fear of her life. THis maid Lucy, from the Durham estate steals a broach that was left on a table when Helena leaves the room. Instead of Helena turning her over to the authorities, she makes a deal with Lucy to be courted by her employer, the Duke of Durham. James Campbell, the Duke has just lost everything from a bad business investment. When Lucy tells him of the scheme, he is appaled. Never having met Helena, he doesn't know of her condition. But possibly, this could be a way to get in good with her father to rebuild his business. This was one of the most enjoyable books I have read in a while. The story line is absolutely great, the characters are so strong. The way the author writes, it is like you are there in the midst of all of it. For being trapped inside her home all these years, Helena is a bright, stubborn and independent woman. I really enjoyed the bantering between Helena and James and James and Lucy. I found myself chuckling at times. This book had such raw emotion, romance, mystery and suspense. I would certainly recommend this book.

The Locked Door by Austin Crawley The Locked Door by Austin Crawley on Laptop
A very, very short story of a woman who inherits an old house from her aunt. When she and her son arrive she wonders if it is even safe enough to go into. But she leaves her sleeping son in the car and goes into the house. She is amazed and shocked how well kept it is considering what the outside looked like. Her son enters into the house and being as he is, doesn't listen to his mother and starts off looking about all the rooms. They find then the mystery, suspense and even horror that is in the house. It was a great read, but I was so disappointed it ended as it did. I would have loved to read a full novel. The story line is so compelling and characters are so strong and believable, it left me wanting more.

Changing Tides (Katelyn Landers Series Book 1) by Veronica Mixon Changing Tides by Veronica Mixon on laptop
A extremely suspensful and intriguing book. Setting is the Georgia coastal area where Kate Landers has returned with her son after he watched his father burn to death in a car fire. Once this was a safe place for her but now she finds she is in the middle of a drug cartel, a late fathers lies and lots of money. She has no idea who to trust. Now she is dealing with an ex-navy seal, now behavioral US Marshall and his counter part who once was her best friend. People are being killed off and she and her family are the run. WOW! Great characters, great story line. The only con I have about this book is the constant souther analogies. They got old after a while. Other than that..a fantastic book. NOTE: Graphic violence and language. I feel more suitable for adults

A Lady's Seaside Dream by Amanda Seabrook A Lady's Seaside Dream: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Amanda Seabrook on Kindle. ARC
Two nobles after the Lady Jillian. Jillian is quite niave regarding love and relationships so when she encounters Radley Talford, a very handsome baron, on a family trip to the seashore of Brighton, she finds she is smitten by the attention. But the more she gets to know him, the more she finds herself very uncomfortable and frightened by is advances. Jeremy Stelbridge has been a friend since they were children. They have a lot in common and Jillian fills comfortable with Jeremy. Jeremy hasn't had the courage to tell her how he feels. Lady Jillian isn't seeing what is right in front of her. As Radley continues to push her and then blackmail her, it is time for both Jillian and Jeremy disclose their true feelings with one another.
I found this book so drawn out I skipped over half of it. I got bored with the same dialogue over and over again. The writing was very choppy. I didn't like this book at all. One star review is generous from me.

The Duke's Accidental Betrothed by Hanna Hamilton The Duke's Accidental Betrothed: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Hanna Hamilton on Kindle. ARC
The storyline was good, but I found it too wordy. It could have been condensed and still have made a good story. The editing and proofing were horrible. Names were constantly being mixed up. I spent a great deal of time having to re-read many parts to figure out who was who, doing what. It really took so much away from the book. I really can't recommend the Kindle version.

Lady Augusta's Letters Christmas Regency Romance by Arietta Richmond Lady Augusta's Letters: Christmas Regency Romance by Arietta Richmond in PDF form. ARC
This book took me in from the very beginning. Two people destined to be together but are pulled apart for reasons beyond some of their doings. Dario Harrison, Marquess of Weatherbrook is traveling to Italy on the urge of his grandmother and father. His grandmother wants him to learn his heritage and see the villa that will be his one day. Before he leaves England he writes a letter to Lady Augusta, his true love, telling her that he loves her and wants to marry her once he gets back. Somehow, this letter never gets into her hands. A shipwreck has left her wondering if her love Dario is still alive. Why has Dario not heard from her or his family? Little does he know that they all think he is dead after reading in the Gazette of the shipwreck. This book is such a beautiful love story with suspense, true love and sadness. I just loved it. What an enjoyable, heartwarming story. Story of misunderstandings, memories lost, secrets, love and forgiveness. I very much enjoyed all the characters. After a tornado hits the small town of Larkspur, the martriarch Cisco has to regroup. Her grandchildren, who happen to be triplets are weathering their own storms. The newlyweds are finding marriage takes more work than they realized. The three were always together and didn't really learn how to have friends and outside relationships outside once their mother died. Two husbands and one wife are haboring secrets from thier spouses. Never a good thing. I really loved this book and even though I have not read any in this series, it can be read as a stand alone story. A sweet, wonderful book.
