The Quest to Reach Her Soul by Carol Colyer The Quest to Reach Her Soul: A Historical Western Romance Book by Carol Coyler on Kindle. ARC
Chase and Ray from Colorado have been hired to take Professor Warrington and his adventurous daughter, Lisa-Jo into the Rockies to find the elusive treasure, The Sky Chest. They get a expedition together and find a lot of mystery, suspense, romance, good guys and bad guys. This book was difficult to put down. I was drawn in immediately with the independence and intelligence of Lisa-Jo, the curses and clues of the chest. A romance, of course, starts up between Chase and Lisa-Jo, but during the expedition and its dangers was no time to pursue it. The characters in this story were all unique and so important. Strong, well defined and believable. I just loved it and would certainly recommend it to those who enjoy historical western romance with mystery and suspense. I only wished the author would have spent more time describing the cities and the times then the constant "feelings" the two had. The only cons I had were, it needed to be edited better and it took me along time to finally find the Extended Epilogue. The link on Kindle didn't work. Loved this story though.

Kentucky Heat by Fern Michaels Kentucky Heat by Fern Michaels in paperback
An amazing book of power, family issues, horses, love, healing and forgiveness. It is a powerful story! Nealy Coleman Diamond Clay has had quite a life. Starting from nothing to being a wealthy woman and the winner of the Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown. Her life consists mainly of her ranch and horses. Other things and people have always taken a back seat to those. Now she finds as she is getting older another chance for the Triple Crown. But on the way she has lost her two children and grandchild. She now as a man in her life who may or may not be able to show her a different kind of life. So many emotions in this book with twists and turns. It was a book hard to put down as it kept me on the edge all the time. I did not read the others in the series and although this could be a stand alone book, it would have helped get all the characters aligned for me. By the end of this book, I was confused and overwhelmed trying to remember who was who, how they were related, etc. But it didn't take away anything from me. I would certainly recommend this book. It was great!

A Duke's Secret Romance by Abigail Agar A Duke's Secret Romance: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Abigail Agar on Kindle. ARC
Emma has loved her brothers best friend for years. Yet, now that they are older John is either very tentative or very cool towards her. To the lengths of refusing to dance with her at a ball. John has had feelings for Emma since a time when they were younger and he pulled her out of the river. Neither one will admit their feelings towards one another so it only seems reasonable that her brother Arthur has blessed a betrothal to another man for her. Arthur feels Lord Anthony to be a good match for Emma, but John knows otherwise. Arthur is also interested in Emma's bestfriend, but she is not of noble birth. This back and forth situation kept me waiting for more. This was a clean, suspenseful and romantic, historical romance. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

A Marquess to Have and to Loathe A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Tiffany Baton A Marquess to Have and to Loathe: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Tiffany Baton on Kindle. ARC
What a wonderful story! Eveyln has always been teased, and sometimes cruelly, by brother Christopher and his friend Duncan. Now with Christopher getting ready to marry, Duncan and Evelyn have been thrown together at Hobton Manor to help with the wedding festivities. Evelyn loves her freedom and is not happy of all family members staying there. After being repremanded by their parents for thier behavior, Evelyn and Dincan have called a truece. Unbeknowst to them, they find they have other feelings beside loathing of each other. As this romance begins, Evelyn is told she is to be betrothed to another. Elmer is an odd sort but Evelyn feels she has no choice. Then a roller coaster ride of suspense and mystery begins with Duncan becomming gravely ill. The author drew me into this story immediately. A clean romance with many twists and turns. Half way through I knew who the bad guy was, but it never took away from the exitement. The characters were so well defined and story so well written. I would definetly recommend this book.

Kentucky Rich by Fern Michaels Kentucky Rich by Fern Michaels in paperback
1st book in the Kentucky series. Nealy Coleman is forced to leave her home in Virginia by her cruel father. She is greatly ill along with her daughter Emmie. They travel until their truck breaks down and are found by two remarkable people at the Blue Diamond Ranch in Kentucky. A ranch that breeds, raises and runs Triple Crown winners. Maude and Jess take Nealy and Emmie in and make them family. Eventually they adopt them both. Nealy has a special way with horses. Very unorthodox ways that others don't like or understand. This is a remarkable book about Nealy and her family. It's very sad at times and then very heartwarming. I read the first two books out of sequence and now I see why I should have read them in order. That is my suggestion for anyone reading the series. The stories are filled with love, romance, suspense, mystery, family and forgiveness. Sometimes even with hatred. I would recommend this series to anyone. I have been just blown away from the first two. Now on to the final and 3rd in the series. I would give this book more than 5 stars if I could. EXCELLENT!!

A Race for the Duke's Heart by Aria Norton A Race for the Duke's Heart: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Aria Norton on Kindle. ARC
Laura loves the outdoors and riding her horse. She has a special gift when it comes to horses. So it is no wonder that when she comes across a runaway horse, she is able to befriend it and soothe it. The owner is none other than the Duke Owen Ellis of Blackmoor Manor. Owen would rather be out riding his prize horse than anything else. So to come upon a beautiful woman who loves horses as much as he does and has such a remarkable way with his temperamental horse seems like a dream come true. But the two beings of different stations, it is highly unpermitted for them to become romantically involved. Owen is also to marry another. So he has Laura come and care and train more of his horses. This of course does not sit well with his mother or fiance'. Lady Sophia is Owen's cousin and she and Charles are the only two best friends he has, other than Hermmes his horse. This is a beautiful, clean, historical romance. Filled with the love of family, friends, romance, and sometimes suspense. It was a fast, delightful fast read for me. There were some editing issues but never took away from the book. I would definitely recommend this book.

Kentucky Sunrise (Kentucky, #3) by Fern Michaels Kentucky Sunrise by Fern Michaels in paperback
The third and last in the series brings all the characters back home for a family reunion. Nealy returns home and finds, as usual, her daughter not measuring up to her expectations. Emmie is in chronic pain and ends up going to rehab for months. Now her nephew Jake is coming to Blue Diamond to learn to be a jockey. There were so many subplots in this book, it was a constant up and down and back and forth. I was really hoping to find an ending with forgiveness, love, and redemption in the family. I never got to like Nealy and found no empathy for her. I guess she really reminded me of my own mother. Ruby and Mextasis live next to the ranch, but they were pretty much left out of this book. Really needed Ruby to put Nealy in her place. I felt much of the horse racing was so unbelievable. There is no way Nealy, at her age, could have run the Derby. There would never be a tie. For me, I found it a disappointing ending to the series.

Do It Like a Governess by Hanna Hamilton Do It Like a Governess: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Hanna Hamilton on Kindle. ARC
Marian has withstood sadness and tragedy for a lot of her life. She has no recollection of her past when she is taken off a boat in Ireland at about 12 years old. All she has is a pendant with the name "Marian" on it. Adopted by the baker and his wife and also cared for by a rich Marchioness, she has a good life. But when her fiance' dies a week before her wedding years later, Marian realizes she must leave all the sadness behind. She takes on a Governess job for a widow and his child. Erick Sullivan, a Marquess lost his wife, and Marian and Erick find support and understanding of what is it like to lose someone they love. The book continues to evolve the two and their growing romance. Yet, both have the guilt of not being faithful to their departed love ones. There is some suspense and mystery towards the end. It was a bit slow at times and dragged, and I feel it could have been condensed and still have been a good story. A clean, historical romance.

Perilous Trust (Off The Grid FBI, #1) by Barbara Freethy Perilous Trust by Barbara Freethy on KIndle
Alan Parker is head of the organized crime unit of the FBI. Sophie is a Professor of Archaeology at a university. When she leaves work, she finds many mysterious voice mails from her father with the last one sounding like a crash and then nothing. He tells her to leave town and go into hiding and not to trust anyone . . . not even his fellow FBI agents. She finds out from Alan's friend and boss Peter that her father was killed in an automobile accident. Or maybe not an accident. Damon Wolfe is a young FBI agent that Alan had just transferred to the Organized Crime unit for a special assignment. Alan was killed before Damon could find out what that assignment is. Alan was Damon's mentor in Quantico. When he discovers Sophie is missing, memories of their one-night stand together begin to haunt him and he must find her. Once he finds her, they find they are being hunted by someone. Sophie's father left clues in one of his last voicemails. They have to find the solutions to find out who did this and why. This book had me on my seat and was so exciting. It was like a roller coaster with suspense. I never saw it coming how it would end. It had spicy romance but was tastefully done in context with the story. Can't wait to read the other books. I would highly recommend it!
