The Taste of Air by Gail Cleare on KindleTwo daughters discover their mother has been keeping secrets for years. A phone call disrupts Nell's life in an instant. Her mother is extremely ill in a hospital Nell never heard of. How is her mother there and not at the assistant living complex she should be at in Massachusetts? She notifies her sister Bridgette who is looking at leaving yet another husband for abuse. Both of their lives will be turned upside down when they discover not only their mothers antics, but the men that now live next door to the cabin they knew nothing about. It makes them begin to think of of their own lives and relationships. I was able to work out quickly what the secrets were and the who's-who. I have read other books that had almost the identical script. One dimensional characters. It was an okay read. I really didn't like the last few chapters. I would have thought there would have been more emotion in them when reality hit. But all in all a good book.

I finished listening to Waiting on a Cowboy by Jennifer Ryan, McGrath #1, and liked the story. However, it’s a spinoff of the last book in the Wild Rose Branch series and I recommend reading that first to get the highest level of enjoyment. Here’s my review.

The Shallow Waters of Romance: A Barons Brutally Honest Proposal short story by Charlotte Darcy on Kindle. ARCLord William De Claire, is a wealthy Baron who was jilted once when his fiance' left him for a man with a higher title. Love is not for him, but he needs an heir. Miss Bridget Hampton, the oldest of the three daughters is in her third season and is tired of the boring suitors. She knows she must marry and knows that love is not for her. When William asks to her dance at a ball, they are both completely honest with each other and their intentions. Honesty is something they both find attractive in one another. It is a quick marriage and Bridget finds herself in a strange place with a non-receptive sister-in-law. Sparks of all kinds begin to fly. I found this to be a delightful short story. A wholesome romance, mystery and fun. I would have enjoyed a full length story of the characters. I would definetly recommend this book for a quick, fun read.

Not only to save her parents, but to be sure that her younger sister Caroline is secured in her life. Esther will stay in London with her awful Aunt and her dowdy cousin who is also starting her first Season. Hugh Warriver, Duke of Hallowbinder is tired of women using their ways to try to ensnare him only for his title and money. He has no intentions of loving a woman, but he needs an heir. Until he runs into Lady Esther at the first ball of the Season. Literally! Esther berates him for not watching where he is going, not knowing who he is. After her cousin tells her who he was, she needs to find him and make amends. Romance begins until a terrible day.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a sweet historical romance with some mystery and suspense. I thought it was written brilliantly. I would definitely recommend this book.

Cowgirl Fallin' for the Single Dad by Natalie Dean in PDF form. ARCCharity Miller is the eldest of the three Miller daughters. She has raised her sister since her mother died years ago. She is headstrong, caring, compassionate, and ambitious and has had her share of heartache. After not being able to give her ex-husband a child, she found him cheating on her and then trying to embezzle money from her through their divorce. She may be lonely but has no desire to give her heart to another man. Dr. Alejandro Lumis lost the love of his life and is now raising his daughter Savannah on his own. He left San Diego to come and take over his uncle's practice. He has shut down his heart and mind to all other than his daughter. When the two meet, it is inevitable that sparks will fly. Both frightened of their feelings, they try to keep them at bay. But sweet, gifted Savannah is the one who really brings them together. I just adored this book. It is a sweet, loving, funny story. I so enjoyed Savannah! I have read some of the other books in this series out of order, but I feel the author does a fantastic job getting you acquainted with the characters, place, history, and situations that all of these in the series you can certainly be read on their own. If I had any criticism, I felt some sentences were used over and over too many times within the story. I would really recommend this book and the others in this series. I would give more stars for this review if I could. What a delight!! 5+ stars

For the Love of Dreamy Ladies: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Amanda Seabrook on Kindle. ARCTwo women were separated at birth because the parents couldn't afford twins. Linnet stayed with her parents in their humble village and had all sorts of freedoms. Arabella was adopted by a Duke and Duchess not far from the village and was taught to be a lady. Until one day when they came face to face and discovered the truth. Arabella's handsome guardian Henry, who is now the Duke after the deaths of the ones that adopted her has taken Linnet into his household. A romance blooms between Linnet and Henry. Arabella has her eyes on a local villager. It was a good storyline but became too drawn out and I found myself scanning pages. then in about the middle of the story, the author threw a whole new subplot in which not only didn't fit in the story but threw the whole thing off. I also couldn't download the extended epilogue in either way that was given by the author. That is why I only gave it a 2-star review. It's too bad because it could have been a wonderful story.
Have just started Shelter in Place by Nora. Absolutely loving it. A five star read so far!

Coconutty Christmas: Holiday in Hawaii by Ann Omasta in PDF form from the Breathingtaking Beginnings Series.It was a very, very short story and it felt very rushed. I appreciate that the author took the time to write it so I gave it a two star review. Although it was a sweet romance, I just never felt connected with characters and story line. The humorous side was the unusual Christmas in Hawaii. Just wasn't for me.

Aloha, Baby! by Ann Omasta in PDF formThis was a free short story given to me. It was a fun, quick read but I felt the writing wasn't very good and the characters weren't very well defined and believable. The backgrounds of the characters were very often in past tense and not very well written. I couldn't keep track of who's-who and their relationships. I feel if the story would have been made into a full novel, it would have been better. But if you are looking for a fast, easy read, this would be it. Just not my 'cup of tea.'

Exposing A Lethal Past: A Cozy Mystery Book by Cynthia Raye on Kindle. ARCAnother great mystery by Cynthia Raye. Alyssa Mancini has returned home to help care for her father and to get into a surprise business venture. But the surprise is on her when she finds a body in the basement of an old mansion. The people of New Hope are either filthy rich or not. And the two are not to mix. Alyssa found that out when she was in love with a boy from the better side of the tracks, Colton, 15 years ago. But Alyssa had a wonderful chance to go to a different country to study art and change her life. Colton was devastated! Now she is back and is being pointed at as a murderer. Evidence is being planted to make her seem guilty and a police chief who hates her and would like nothing better than to see her suffer. This book was so wonderfully written, it had me on the edge of my seat through the whole thing. The characters were so well defined and believable. The author's descriptions of everything made you feel like you were there in the midst of it. I had two characters picked as the 'who dun it' and I was right. The ending was fantastic. I would give this more than a 5-star review if I could. What a wonderful mystery.

The Broke Billionaire by Ann Omasta in PDF formEllie was driving to her bakery, Snickerdoodle, early in the morning when she hits something. She's surprised to find a jogger laying in the road. Trey is a billionaire who is overworked and over-stressed. Even after being run over by her, he finds he is attracted to Ellie. She doesn't care about his status, power, or money. She likes her simple life with a bakery she has dreamt about since she was a child. Romance begins between the two. I think this would have been a much better novel than a short story. So much was left out by being so condensed. There were aspects in the story that was also SO unbelievable. You wouldn't move someone after an injury, let alone putting them in a small car to take to the hospital. Not one of my favorite books

Lusting for an Enthralling Earl by Henreitta Harding on Kindle. ARCA simple country girl Betty, who is the maid of a society women, Lady Pebbleton has been made by her employer to dress up as her for a masquerade ball to get some information regarding the enthralling bachelor, the Earl of Bembroke. This single night turns into a most enthralling for both of them. Like Cinderella, Betty loses her beautiful bracelet in the hands of the Earl, William Nightbridge. He is so taken by this woman, that he dresses up as his butler to return the bracelet to Betty. "Oh what a terrible web we weave.....". As Williams mother and aunt try to force a marriage situation onto William, it is non other than Lady Pebbleton. The web begins to unravel. This was the most enjoyable book I have read in a while. I enjoyed it so much I read it in three days. The characters were so well established and fun. I can't say it was believable, in which, that people in lower rankings, including Betty wouldn't really know the this butler the Duke was impersonating. But still, what a fun book to read. I would give this way many more stars review than 5. A beautiful, sweet historic romance

He has everything any woman would want, but his secret has kept him from dating since he was in college. Daisy has her own crosses and secrets to bear. She has never liked Charlie and just thought of him like a stuck-up, arrogant rich boy. Now they are thrown together when the rodeo is in the area. Daisy is a wild rodeo performer and lives in a run-down, tiny RV. She can never seem to get ahead and will take any free food or drink. Charlie begins seeing sides of Daisey that he has never noticed before. Yes, she is haunted by something, but she is a kind, gentle, compassionate soul. Daisy realizes that Charlie isn't a rich snob, but a troubled person with firm family ties, a heart of gold, and a love for his ranch. This book was as amazing as the previous ones. The author does such an excellent job making the characters so strong and believable. Again, she touches on mature, sensitive topics with style, respect, and sensitivity. She again shows us that it doesn't matter how much money you have or what your last name is, pain, anguish, and fear can still find you. But with a deep-rooted faith and the love of family and friends, you can work through it. I can't give this book enough stars. Actually, the whole series so far is amazing. I have said before, that although this is a series, each book is a stand on its own read. I am so excited about the next book in the series. Bravo Natalie Dean!

A Heavenly Place to Call Home by Lilah Rivers in PDF formHelen Walker was an orphan and left when she was 15 to fend for herself..can take care of herself. She can shoot a gun and can play poker with the best of all men. She isn't afraid of anyone.
Daniel Winchester is the son of the town preacher. He comes upon Helen and a man in the ally by the saloon and finds he needs to rescue her. Something of which she wanted no part of and let him know adamantly. After speaking with her he offers her a place to stay until she moves on. Helen finds that a happy and loving home life Daniel has is something she would love. Daniel shows Helen that her life doesn't have to be on her surviving and going from one to another. He helps her learn that her God is there for her. Helen learns the love of the Father can change hearts and minds forever and that yes, she can have a happy home. It was a good book, but a bit too preachy for me.

Never Doubt a Duke's Desire: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Meghan Sloan on Kindle. ARCLouisa Stone grew up in an orphanage and know's how the people of society see people differently. She is grateful for her job as a maid in the Westwood Estate. She works hard, has food to eat, and a roof over her head. At night she enjoys sitting outside in the gardens. Isaac Montagu, the Duke of Westwood, has a bitter heart from his crushing heartbreak. He keeps to himself and is not interested in the ton and their society gossip and gatherings. Everything changes in these two people's worlds as soon as they both meet. Louisa is the calm to his battered ego and heart. But, they both realize the roadblocks ahead. Then to make matters worse, a person from Issac's past rears their lovely, but evil head. The storyline of this book was fantastic. But I didn't find Louisa's character very well defined. It would have been nice to have read more about her past in the orphanage and that transition to being a maid. For all she had been through, I found her very immature. I felt the Duke acting like more of a rake, taking advantage of her physically. I love spicy romance, but this was overdone. I found it boring after a while reading about their touchy-feely thoughts and actions. The editing on Kindle was ATROCIOUS!! It ruined the whole book. Using the wrong names for the characters, words missing, replaced, or spelled wrong. And the 'pièce de résistance' was that I never got to read the extended epilogue. The link the author had at the end wasn't even for this book! Maybe the hard copy is better.

Love Letters for a Lady: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Aria Norton on Kindle. ARCA story of Lady Henrietta Lockton, the only daughter of Lord Lockton. She is feisty, independent, and determined to start up a Community Library in Wheatley. Her mother was a great philanthropist her self and Hetty is just like her. She wants to help those to be able to read books and be educated. Since her mother's death, her father has been non-supportive, abrasive and voices his opinion openly regarding the difference in classes and how she is wasting her time. She puts out an ad for a librarian, curator for the library. She is determined to see this through. Mr. John Greenly is a scholar and educated young man though not of the upper class. Since his father died, he has to care for his mother and sister the best he can. Working at the British Museum in London, he is finding it not what his goal was. So he responds to the ad and is hired. When Hetty and John meet, the sparks fly. This was a wonderful storyline but I felt it could have been greatly condensed and still be a great book. I found it all too drawn out. Having to relive each episode by both of the main characters. I found myself scanning through pages being bored. Then at the end, it zips through so quickly, feeling like I missed out on some of the story. It was okay, but I found it just too drawn out.
The Price to Pay for a Duke's Love by Aria Norton in PDF form. ARCThis would have been a very good story. The storyline was very interesting and had so much potential. The story flowed very well until about halfway through. Then it started going every which way, jumping from here to there, and suddenly it was weeks later in the story. I felt like there was no closure to some of the situations going on. It was like the author got tired or bored of writing this book and just wanted to get it finished quickly. I also didn't like the characters very much. Lilah for being once a lady and one who had to work so hard once their father died and left with little was not very intelligent and a big enabler to her scoundrel twin brother. Thomas the Duke, was a creep. Wanted so much to make his marriage work and claimed to love Lilah so much, but spend all his time at the Club with his bastard brother Sebastian. I have read other books by Aria Norton and really enjoyed them. This one I did not.
